Got the coolant system back together, temp stayed under 190 the whole way to work. Also got a hose made up for the A/C and got that charged up, so far it worked great. It’s really nice to have A/C back, it’s getting hot again up here and hour long drives with the windows down was getting old

Now I gotta replace the rack and pinion, it’s leaking pretty badly around the steering shaft. And I found out my brake lights aren’t working for some reason. I think Thursday I’ll drop the transmission and start dealing with that whole mess

One piece at a time... you're getting it done..

Glad you got it fixed sounds like your luck is beginning to change!:thumb:

Not so fast haha. Somehow when I was trouble shooting the efan burning up, one of the live wires came in contact with the TIPM or FCM behind the fine box and it seems to have burnt it up. Came to find out none of my exterior lights are working now, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, nothing. By messing around with it, I found out if the outer shell came in contact with a ground, it would start working. So I think the I rental ground burnt up somehow. Now I gotta find one in a junk yard. Or solder a ground wire to the case and call it good...

E-fans I refuse to use them just because I don't want any aggravation with one burning up and causing a problem! a good old manual fan is good enough for me.:coolsmiley:

Chris since you found a work around I'd go ahead and solder an external ground to the case. Then when it is convenient replace it.
Mark, one day you'll see the advantages of a efan.

The efan going out was more of a side effect to the coolant hose popping off. There are some drawbacks to having an efan but the extra space makes it worth it. Also the car water pump doesn’t have the threaded nipple for a clutch fan anyways. To run the setup I have, I have to have an efan.

Found a spare FCM at the boneyard, plugged it in and it did the same thing. So the burnt ground must be inside the actual fuse box. So i just added a ground strap to the shell and called it a day.

Transmission is out of the truck. Using all the bands on the exhaust made it a piece of cake to clear everything out of the way. The 46re is much easier to remove them the old 545rfe, the shape of the case leaves a lot more room to reach all the bolts. So I’m shipping the converter in and waiting to get ahold of John, I’ll try to have him pressure test the valvebody while it’s out. So I’ll probably be down for about 2-3 weeks waiting for parts to get back to me

Chris, good luck getting this sorted out...

Any new updates?
The valve body is back, John upgraded to a dual lockup solenoid on it. Contacted Edge yesterday and Andre said the converter should be done in the next day or two

Dual lockup solenoid? What’s that for? Is the VB not bleeding off enough causing lockup when it’s not commanded? Possible issue o need to check on if I go back to a lockup style

Unfortunately John was a little sparse on the details but admitted he’s had problems with lockup on multiple valvebodies but claims this has fixed a lot of problems. We will see soon

John's lockup circuit is very sketchy and it appears he doesn't have full understanding what is needed to work properly. He couldn't get the vb he sold me to work as it should.
