Here's another thing that I have noticed. Because the TC and the trans has a solid feel to the throttle response. The turbo is trying to boost up in normal everyday driving again. I've done six part throttle shut downs.

Don't get me wrong. I really like how the new TC and Sharadon stage III trans performs. I can hardly wait to take the truck to the track. I just have to learn how to drive the truck again to control the boosting in traffic.

Maybe, now is a good time to try out the vacuum operated waste gate. I might even have to take out a waste gate seat.

I set up the vacuum operated waste gate and it worked.

I can drive normal without the turbo taking over and boosting up. Or, causing a part throttle shut down. And as for the performance from the turbo.... Check out: Red Light Racing, RE; Out checking my gear setting.

After installing the 390 stroker engine. The Edge T/C and the Sharadon stage III trans feel even more solid. The 390 stroker engine has more low rpm TQ. With a quick slap of the gas, the truck has a solid "jump" take off. I still have to put some miles on the engine for break in. I can hardly wait till the engine is broke in and boosted for a full throttle test at the track.

There are somethings that everyone needs to know about the Sharadon stage III trans. The trans was set-up more for the track. Where the trans shines is at a dead stop to WOT. IT'S OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!! It shifts solid. And in the same rpm range at every shift. Shifting at 5700 down to 4200 rpm on the next gear up. I really like the rpm range that it shifts at. The turbo likes it too.

Where it does not shine is down shifting from OD like when going onto the freeway at part throttle. Or even making it downshift on the freeway. The trans does take longer to downshift out of OD, like it's not sure what to do. If you turn off the OD and mash the gas to the floor, or at least 3/4 throttle. Then it's all good.

So, you will have to learn to drive the truck a little differently. Other than those two problems, everything else is great.

This trans is much better for 1/4 mile track racing. The trans works good for normal every day driving. This is just how my truck acts "03 ram, the ba$tard step child of tuning". Your truck could act better with this trans. So, just keep this in mind. To me, the dead stop to WOT makes up more than enough for the normal street driving quirks that my truck has with the Sharadon stage III trans.

One other note. Make sure you use a TC with a cast aluminum stator. Not a plastic OEM one. If you do, your going to be sorry. In my opinion, for my set up. 2800 is better on the street than a 3000rpm stall for every day driving. My turbo works better with a 2800 than a 3000rpm stall too.
Also, get yourself a Sonnex line pressure booster. It does make a difference.

More to follow.

Thank you Al. I believe it's important to put out the all of the info good or bad, on these mods we do to our trucks. Most of the time, they don't give you all of the info of the "quirks" of the performance parts that you install. I'll be doing a write up on my 390 stroker engine too. Everything from what the manufacture says, and what it really is.

This is the info that you never hear about until after you bought and installed it. And it's not always as good as they say it is. And then, you get to hear their song and dance.

Welcome to my world!

You must go through that every day Jay.
Pretty much so. Todays jewel; The job, just replace one piston. Well, well, welll, called Wisco, they don't make that piston anymore. But, if you order 4, they'll make a special run. Ready in 4 to 5 weeks.
