The 03 might be the support truck once the 05 is ready to make some runs.
No chance.. now if I were building from scratch again, I would most certainly consider a 12v or 24v in a 1500 chassis. A diesel tuner if not used with great care will break stuff. Today went to town and had the tuner set to tune#5 @ level 60. From 60mph pull in high gear. It pulled hard. So being a hot rodder I moved up the setting to level 70. Rolled up to 60mph and stepped on it and it slipped the clutch. Too much torque...moved it to level 65 and it was good again. Just to be safe moved it back to level 60 and will be careful even at that setting. The silly folks who make the Smarty tuner say that tune # 3 is the safe level for stock automatic and manual clutch.hmm what do they know... kidding aside I do see a new clutch in my future.... but Red will be up and running before it happens.

There is an off topic area in the drivers lounge at the bottom of the directory in that thread. If we want to talk diesel we can do it there. I'm sure there is plenty we can discuss about the support trucks lol

Now back to Redtruck. I got the Amber LED's and momentary switches (NOS purge buttons) so I can finish wiring the OD and Lockup indicators. I'm thinking of changing the floor shifter and raising it on a custom aluminum center console. Read that as a aluminum box with an access cover on one side. Tomorrow looks like a good day...

Got Red off the jack stands, Trans temp gauge working. I wire the gauge lights on with the ignition. Had to experiment with various resistance to get the intensity were I wanted. The job was made more difficult because one gauge is LED and the other incandescent. And now I have indicators telling me what is on or off. Anyhow it's back together and running. Tomorrow I'll relocate the idler pulley and go onto testing and finish the 03 tuning. This is an significant goal ole Red has reached.

Thinking out loud. If I could find a boost gauge that is also LED I could wire the gauge light with two intensities to indicate the W/M was on. Low for normal and then bright for W/M on... hmmmm

Thanks, anyone need a radio..... lol

That would make it way easier to watch what boost levels it is turning on/off and get set where you want it. It's way easier to watch one thing instead of two. :thumb:

haha and easy is what I need...

Pulled the SC off and figured out where I wanted the pulley moved to, but it's too close to the SC mounting flanges. So like many things I ended up with a compromise. I pretty much have as much wrap on the SC pulley as I can with that length belt. I think it'll be good.

Huh I didn't catch that.....

Well I don't want to jinx myself. But the initial test run went very good. I needed to adjust the w/m priority between Throttle position and Boost to give boost more weight in turning on w/m. It's hard to miss what it is doing as I have the nozzle wire tied to the windshield wiper. I'm now at 25% throttle and 75% boost. 1st/2nd gear has a good shift point, and 2nd to 3rd is higher than I want. The entire shift schedule needs to move down some. It's 75 degree's here and the ambient temperature is only 10 degrees lower than inlet using the intercooler. I'll try to sneak away later and get some gas after I make a few adjustments. Engine pulls good the little I leaned on it...

Edit: And I didn't get any burning rubber smell and the trans seemed to be running around 185....

Nice watch that afr we still need to dial the afr to around 11.5 range then turn on the meth and inch it up from there timing wise while still being conservative.
Made a 25 mile gas run. Need to go back and readjust the OD/LU points. So just ran it in OD and left the TC unlocked. No issues... Trans temps did creep up to 200 after making a couple test pulls. It sounds totally different than before. A bit more roar and less scream. Got no ST or LT knock. I have an alert set for them and I watched the gauge. AFR goes to 12.2 and then more slowly rolls to 11.8. I think I'll use a smaller w/m jet. The one I have tied to the windshield wiper is for 450hp and it pushes so much water I couldn't see. lol I'm thinking it is too much. I have a full set of the jets to play with. Made two fairly aggressive test pulls. I'm seeing not quite 5psi on the gauge which is a bit disappointing. But it'll roasts the tires from a stop and can lite'm on a roll. This is my standard test road and it does feel faster, not sure about quicker. I'll connect the w/m to the boost pipe tomorrow and start data logging. So far so good......
