I had to go back and re-read my post before I realized how I worded that, but sure, I'll take credit for it.

Bug and tar remover works pretty good but takes some time. PPG makes a product for removal of wax and contaminents for cleaning the surface before painting. My friend had some and that is what I used and the rubber came off almost instantly with ease.

Yep, we cover the rear tires with a towel and spray the fender wells and rear qtr panel with PAM before going to the track, do it early so it does not drip onto the tires
