Magnaflow Exhaust System

I'm thinking of getting a Magniflow exhaust #15333, but I've seen two different pictures of the same system. Is the piece after the muffler a resonator? And wouldn't that suppress the sound? Any thoughts....

The funny thing is the picture of the #15333 with the resonator is from the Magnaflow website, and the other is from Amazon. Which one would you get?

MagnaFlow website says the resonator is included. I would call MagnaFlow to clarify which is which. If it is the family vehicle I would use the resonator, if it's a work/play truck then leave it off. It's a totally personal choice.

I sent a message to Magnaflow asking them about the two versions, I'm just waiting for their response. I think I would prefer the version without the resonator.

I'll be driving Big Red hard when I pull my 36 foot travel trailer this summer.

If your pulling a camper I would recommend the resonator the drone on the hwy will get to you. My son just put on a system on his 2010 without the resonator and he just put it back on a week later he couldn't take the drone and to me it sounds better with it.

You make a good point boedacres! I like a good growl, but I think a constant drone would drive me crazy, not to mention my wife! Thanks, you may have saved a few headaches.

Big Red - The mufflex kit fits well and I love the sound of the magnaflow muffler - I now have a very loud drone, however, in the 1750-2000 rpm range. I think I'll fab up a 3" resonator tube to see if I can resolve the drone. From what I have read, I will need a 28" tube to attempt to correct for the drone.....we'll see!

I'm worried about the loud drone, especially when I'm pulling my camper down the highway. I'm hesitant about getting one now

HemiFun05, I'm new to this forum but I've been here long enough to know you know what you're talking about. Thanks for your input on this topic! I messaged Corsa about my truck to see if they are in development of a system for my '16 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi, since they don't offer anything on their website. I like that they say their products have no drone during cruise, but I don't know enough to engineer and fabricate a system myself, so I'll see what they have to say.

Again :GoodLuck1: - It is often a trial and error research effort to find the components that are acceptably quiet within your operating RPM range. I believe every system has some drone / harmonics as it passes through the RPM range - the key is to move it out of the annoyance range with your fabrication of components. :thumb:

Like you said, a little drone is to be expected at a certain RPM, I just don't want it to drive me and especially my wife crazy when we are on the highway.

Update on Megnaflow: They emailed me back and said Part #15333 only comes with the resonator even though Amazon shows it without one.
