Be patient, some times you just do what you have to do..

Guys I'm feeling kind-a bummed. I haven't been able to do a single thing to my truck in months. I thought that getting back to work I'd be able to do some stuff but that isn't the case. I really wish I could get some fun time in under the hood of Grace!!!!
:cry2: I know that feeling.

Just got done buying the lowering kit from McGaughys! 4/6 inch lowering kit and ordering the long bars from charged392! So in a couple of weeks I hope to start tearing apart Grace and getting her ready for the drop!

Sweet! Lotsa pictures.....

Well shipping is saying my long bars will be here Saturday and the lowering kit will be here Monday! So it looks like next week will be fun!

Good deal.... the fun begins..

You know a 6 inch drop will put you on the frame. One fix is timbren springs which will give a very firm ride but will take the hard hits away. The other better option is a frame notch. This will bring back the ride. I use both a notch and timbren spring. I wrote a good deal about lowering back when I was doing mine. Did a lot of experimenting. I'm 6 inches rear and 3 inch in the front using 2 inch drop spindles and a trimmed spring. It was level but has now raised a little in the rear with some of the changes that were made. Using a flip kit makes adjusting the rear very easy. You will have fun with this mod.

The kit I ordered has the notch kit included! But I do have a couple of things on my mind about this mod. 1 is the pinion angle will it need to be corrected? 2nd is the slip yoke of the trans will it have to be trimmed? The notch kit will it still keep the frames structural integrity? Is it better the weld it into place or bolt it like the instructions say?

Ok the pinion angle is usually udjusted with the flip kit brackets that come with the kit they are on an angle normally.

The notch is stronger than factory mine was 3/8" plate steel your not bending that. Mine to this day is bolted in still never an issue. If I remove my bed again I will weld it in.

That's a great kit you bought. The pinion angle will need to be adjusted. Once you have it the way you want and have test driven it to check for vibration I strongly recommend you spot weld the spring perches so the axle won't spin on hard launches. The drive shaft will be good as the axle will be mounted slightly rearward from its original position. The notch kits are strong and I've been told can haul big heavy boats. I bolted mine in and then made plates to go on the inside of the frame and welded it all together. I use slicks and have compromised the rear frame section by removing the steel cross members. So I wanted it strong using what's there.
