Not a bad idea Greg, I really don't have room for 3 vehicles though....I could look into finding another Mitsubishi.....then whichever one dies first can be a parts donor for the other.... :)

I have been dealing with Mitsubishi's for a long time now. The valve guides your talking about are a very common problem. But they tend to still live a very long time anyways. I have Daytona's and Lebaron's with the 3.0 V6 with both manual and automatic trans and trust me they tend to out live the body!LOL I think I would wait and do nothing for the moment. Don't let worry and pressure push you into a decision.

I was leaning towards that....kinda feel like I got kicked in the seeds with what they will allow for mine on trade.....might still buy it though, my dad is interested in buying mine to use on the farm and he knows how particular I am about maintenance and fixing things, we'll see if he wants it more than stealership does lol

The dealer will offer you an insulting low amount for your truck. I have a friend who paid $31k for a 04, every bell and whistle available. He wanted a new 08 and went to the dealer. Everything they had was solid gold and his very nice truck was worth sh!t. The offered him $7k. I gave him $7.5 for it and gave it to my daughter who's husband still drives it everyday.

Well it wasn't quite that bad...they offered me 11,000 for mine. They want a little much for the one I'm looking at. The salesman started in on how well maintained it was, 4 new tires, yada yada yada....I looked at him and said you don't add extra options on top. Why am I not also getting extra for having 4 brand new tires? Polished stainless grille guard, new rear brakes, new front wheel bearing, I even fixed the recirc door when it broke, yada yada yada and then I left lol

Dealers will do that to turn around and sell it for double. If you can private party sell it that's best but most people don't have that laying around.
Actually my dad and uncle are interested in buying it to use on the farm. If they will give me 13 for mine and I can get the other one for 14.5 I'll probably do that. I don't want to spend much to downsize a 10 yr old truck lol

Here's kind of an update for those that care :D While I've been looking at this overpriced 1500 trying to figure out how to talk him down out of the stratosphere the same dealer just took delivery of an auction find 2011 Ram 2500 4x4 with the 5.7 that came out of Texas and was a former fleet vehicle. 91,000 miles on it and no gooseneck ball so it didn't tow too heavily. It hasn't seen road salt yet so there is time to get it undercoated and sealed up nicely in order to last a really long time :thumb: He said once it gets cleaned up and the decal glue buffed off(thankfully it's white so there won't be any color fading) he'd probably price it around 23k.....he's sitting at 15.5k on the '06 1500. I'll get a better interest rate on the '11 which will help pay off the principal faster. It's still a 3/4 ton vs 1/2 ton. To me this is kind of a no brainer.

Found out the story on why he has the '06 priced so high, he bought it from his brother-in-law to sell and there was more wrong with it than he thought so he's probably going to take a bath on it or hope it does really well at auction....not exactly my problem and a business risk of running a used car dealership/service center

The dealer offered me 11k to trade mine in, I also thought that was too low. I talked to dad because I knew their old '01 Dodge is getting tired, actually it's kind of beat up really bad lol He and my uncle want to buy it instead and they don't think that the 13k I want is a bad price at all and I agree. They would be buying it at a pretty good price and I'd be getting more than trade-in. It sounds like a win-win :thumb:

We'll see how it goes. Maybe middle of next week there will be a Great White in my parking spot instead of a Gray Draggin'

I take it is a QC??
