It started with the cam install and loading of the base tune. It's not to noticeable when crusing anymore. But sometime's at a steady rpm in 3rd around 40/45mph it will start surging 4/500rpm and keep doing this till i let off or give it more gas to get it to stop.My tuning is a lot better now but still need's some tweaking.

I have no cmr tuning on my truck just used custom settings i'n diablo with my truck and my cam is pretty big comp said may not work well without tuning I don't know if you have tried unloading the tune and just adjusting certain things one at a time i'n custom I let the factory comp do my cruising stuff the cam hurts it i'n no way because of the oxygen sensors they will figure fuel for you my truck is tuned wide open only no need for half gas I'd rather blow the tires off or go slow

I have had 3 tuner's make adjustment's in cmr.So there's been quite a few adjustment's tried. No one has fiqured out what is causing the surge. They can effect it but not completely eliminate it.

I would save all your tunes and load the backup
I'n so your truck is stock again and set the idle then just drive it like that for a while the sensors on the truck will make the correct adjustments so nothing gets hurt if your cams not a comp 270 or bigger the factory comp can run it without issue but if you have tried thT already then I hope diablo will come thru for you

Truck will idle on the stock tune, but is not driveable on it.There's no advantage there to doing that on a modded truck.Diablo has started to many thing's and left them uncompleted. There in lies the problem. No matter how hard we try to get them to finish what they started they just whine how hard it is or ignore us.So unless thier competetion up's the anti i don't see it happening.I'm not putting them down they have a good product with the potential to be great if they would just finish it.

have you tried a split second cam tuner yet one of my friends said thats what he needed to do to his truck he lives in miami has a comp 272 and he said it fixed it what i still cant believe is that i have a custom ground cam equivelant to roughly like a 270 ish area and i have no problems no cmr tuning at all and get 20.1 mpg and im using an 03 2500 block with no egr and long tubes with no cats and a charger on the truck with the factory map sensor not upgraded to a 2 bar with no issues no codes either. im seaching the net for an answer to try and help the only thing so far is that cam tuner maybe try that i know that spending money is starting to get annoying but if i had this issue with my truck thats where id start being that you changed the cam and the problem started

"The Cam Tuner is a plug-and-play solution that compensates for the installation of an aggressive cam. It will work on the Dodge Hemi, SRT-10 and Viper applications. It is designed to be an easy-to-use solution that end users can install and adjust themselves.

A more aggressive cam profile is a tried and true way to improve performance. In a speed density engine management application, a more aggressive cam results in less vacuum at idle and light load. This lower vacuum causes the Power Control Module (PCM) to run too rich. The Cam Tuner corrects the fuel curve for the correct fuel mixture at light load.

The Cam Tuner features a single internal adjustment that can be used to fine tune for a wide range of cam profiles. A table is provided in the installation instructions that show where to set the adjustment for different idle vacuum readings. Users who have a scan tool can set the Cam Tuner exactly by adjusting for balanced short term and long term fuel trim values.

The Cam Tuner can be installed or uninstalled in seconds. It does not cause any trouble codes and its operation does not leave any trace that it was ever there. The Cam Tuner is not a PCM re-flash solution. It is an embedded control solution that works seamlessly with the stock PCM. When set correctly, the Cam Tuner establishes the correct fuel mixture at light load which restores the original high fuel economy, low emissions and quick throttle response of the stock engine."

so thats what iv found for yah drove the wife crazy up late trying to help fello hemi owners solve problems but thats what i do all day every day is fix cars for people so im glad to help let me know if you think it might help you out its on moesperformance.com engine tuning page three half way down and i didnt see any mention of this from anyone in any of the forums your on this makes sense though

On another board one of the member's gave that a try.It did help the surge. He was having a tranny issue and it got a lot worse with the split second. He had to pull it off.I ruled it out and wasn't sure if it could be used with the DSP.This was before Johan calmed the surge down to a bareable level. So the surge is nothing like when i started that thread. The DSP has the ability to do what we need if they would just put a little more time into it.They move on to support the newer truck's.The sad part is the newer one's will get no better tuning than the older one's because they never finished. They refuse to see this,so we're stuck with making due with what we have.Just don't feel it's right that we have to settle for less than other vehicles's they support.Unless people bond together and voice thier need's to them they'll just keep blowing us off while the keep smiling on thier way to the bank.JMO

True But if you personally have not tried it on your particular truck maybe try it the other guy may have set it up wrong possibly just my two cents other than that stay on johans ass with the tuning help because once it's solved hundreds will love you for it they will actually enjoy there trucks also

i've had the cam tuner on my truck, it does work. downside is that it manipulates MAP voltage to work, which also affects the transmission. adjusting the MAP voltage too much can fry your trans

The 27x Comp Cams lsa is retarded so much that you can prob run it on a canned tune without surge.

I had zero tuning issues with my Comp 273 but had the same surging issues on my Spartan 112lsa. The surge never went away but Sean was able to adjust to it was barely noticable.

On the last bout white lightning was trying to get him to finish the shift schulde.I chimed in with a reminder about exhaust transport delay pid.He called our truck's older product's.LMAO Just a couple weeke's ago i was asked if it was a new truck.Thier making excuse's not to finish. On top of it all when they release a new crom if it screw's up something on you year specific truck they don't even care. They act like they do but never do anything to fix the issue.I have no tcm option's when loading a custom tune.Actually i don't think it writing to my tcm properly. When i inquire and ask a question to Mike so i can get some info to know what's in the new tranny performance tune so i can tell if it's writting properly i get his famous no response.I even asked Mike if he would help me out and his response was (you guessed it)there was none.(yet he say's he's not ingoring me)I've gotten very dishearted with thier Aloftness and turning thier head the other way.All i'm asking for is my tool to work like it should.I quess that's to much to ask so i'm stuck with what i've got with no chance of getting help.I just spent a week with no truck because of the tool malfunctioning. They swapped my tool out and they have my old one to see what happened.(This should'nt of happened being i've been telling them for 6 month's or longer about my problem.)It's like if it's an easy fix they'll help if it's more than that they don't have time for you. There decent people but they seem to have put up some kind of iron curtain with a iron clad disclaimer on the door. This is not necessary because most of us understand and all we want to do is help to solve the issue. It's a shame after all the work we do to our truck's just to be stopped from being happy with tuning issue's.I just wish they drove modded hemi truck's so they could see how this feel's.(This post is a stateing fact's not a rant.)Hope all of you are having better luck then i'm having.

Mike @ Diablo (both of them) are bad about not answering a question. I have asked many very specific questions and they will dance around them. Johan was answered some and Jimb did fix a crom issue I was having after they updated and screwed mine up.

I hear ya weed! The need to realize were with them not against them.I know there's some question's they don't want to answer because of liability. But to not answer a customer who is having problem's is rude and bad business. Most are just looking to solve a problem thier having or support. What happened to there are no stupid question's just stupid answer's.Either way you should get a response.

lolol...... Actually Chris that's not funny at all.I know how you feel Bro!

Here is something I thought would be simple to answer but evidently tech support at Diablo had a lot of issues answering it.

I have an 04 and I am custom tuned. However, as we know, there is no TCM support for an 04. So I bought an 05 PCM and harness. Swapping it out isnt an issue but I wanted to know what TCM parameter support I would gain from going to an 05 which Diablo provides TCM support for.

I thought answering this would be simple but do you know neither MikeM or MikeL or Fred? could answer it for me??

Johan answered some but Ive still got questions that are unanswered.

This is telling us something about Diablo. It's begining to look like we know more about their product from using it than they do.Something's not right in the Diablo organization. If their having a problem answering simple question's then either they truly don't know (which is scary)or their hiding something. What's on the forum and what your told calling tech support conflict on the info you get. It's pretty obvious that there is confusion within their organization of what can be said and who can say it.I've talked to just about all the guy's on the tech support line. They are all good guy's and very helpful. So i'm gussing it's coming from higher up that's keeping people's hand's tied or a policy that's causing the issue. They put out a Majic tranny performance tune and nobody has a clue to what's in it.Like i posted, when i asked i got no response.(Which told me their playing with tranny line pressure.)No answer sometime's tell's more than what they could of said. What amaze's me is nobody is even asking what's in it or what they can expect from using it.I'm glad to see them moving forward with tranny tuning but why hide it from us? Our feedback is their best friend. But why post when you know your going to get ingored or blown off.Look at what ignoring a customer's that is having problem's is causing. How come we see it but they don't or won't? The whole situation can be fixed or avoided with communication. Why would they need to hide behind a vail of silence?People are reading the thread's and they see it for what it is.(They can't hide it)Most are afraid to say anything for fear of loseing their support if they have a problem.(I was one of them.)I no longer am afraid to say what i see wrong or say the truth. My recent post reflect that and so should everybody else's.Honesty is alway's the best policy.Keeping it to ourselve's is just giving them more power over us.Till people realize this,we will get nowhere on advancing our tuning and it will stay half completed. We're not mushroom's so why act like one. It's not hard to have good customer relationship's.Just treat them like you would want to be treated and you'll find out your customer is now a friend.I have been loyal and a good customer to Diablo.Yet they so easily blow me off when i'm having problem's with their tuning. Why would they do this? (Think about it)

Weed don't know why they could'nt answer it.The answer is simple, the 05's should have everything they have for tcm support.Notice i said should have.I'm and 05 and you read my post.Chris is an 05 also and he no longer use's diablo. So what we should have and what we do have is two differant thing's.Now you know why they can't answer your question. The sad part is that they have no intention of fixing it.

This is directly from the email I had from Johan....

"The trans cal will have control over shift pressures, shift points, wot and part throttle, converter lockup, those would be the most pertinant parameters i could think of."

See, with my 04, I wanted TCM supper but all know how much 04's have. So I bought an 05 PCM and harness and was going to use it.

But as I got into questioning the overall cost versus gains and was it worth it, I had technical Qs and needed answers. What I got above was all i got. So now Im on the fence of whether I upgrade to the 05 PCM or not. Its paid for but Im nor sure it is worth the gains. I dont take my truck to the track. Im lifted 12" and got heavy 24" rims and 36" A/T's. The best i ever did on a 0-60mph was 6.86 sec. So that will give you an idea of where Im coming from with my "complaints" and why.

Weed if you have no tcm support you won't beleive the differance. It is even more worth it for daily driving than for the track.Being able to get it to stay out of o/d at low speed's and raise the shift point's to keep it closer to the power band make's it feel like a differant truck. With the downshift shift point's it's also easier to get it to downshift without pressing the pedal to the floor. With your big tire's you need it more than us with 20's.Once you have tcm option's you will never want to be without them again. Not to say your best time would soon become your old best time.Wish you lived closer,i would let you try my truck so you could see what you think.Going from no tcm option's to all tcm option's would soon become one of your best mod's if not the best.JMO

Sidenote...Decieded to call and talk directly to Mike L..Turn's out he's understanding and willing to try and help me out.He also explained a few thing's.I told him about the no response and he understood.Let's see how it turn's out.

@ TooCool - Building an engine and tuning it I have done several times and understand it. Doing anything to a trans other than oil/filter changes and swapping one out is all I know. I would like a spare off CL or someplace local so i could take it apart and reassemble it a few times to get a feel for anything that may come down the road.

With that being said, my truck is purely a DD and never on a track. I do hope to get on a dyno soon but Im looking for someone with some 17s I can borrow first to get on the dyno with. I do have 456s already though.

My biggest fear with the TCM support from Diablo (or anyone for that matter) is trashing the trans and me not knowing anything about them to fix my own issues.

I was told White Lightning was the one to talk to on the Diablo CMR TCM topic but havent had a chance to
