Of course it's difficult to get the rail positioned right. But the oem rail ends are shorter than the modern muscle rails they say to use. The center to center distance will be the same. Makes me wonder why they said to use modern muscle rails except the oem rails has the cross over tube in the middle. Which isn't very large and feeding an entire bank of injectors. That's enough for me not to want to use the oem. Now if you did a little brazing you could use larger fittings with AN cross over and feed it any way you like. The mounting tabs will also need to be removed. If you need a spare set of oem rails pm me you address and I'll send you a set.

Question After lowering Grace I have found that on hard accelerations when she shifts from 1st to 2nd the rear seems to want to kick out to the side. will the long bars cure that!?
 
Like a loss of traction kick? Make sure and check your leaf spring bushings mine are totally shot and hard accelerate times it will actually push sideways. The bars will keep a le wrap under control not sure exactly what you are experiencing.
 
Could be uneven spring wrap steering the rear out of line. The leaf springs are pretty flexible. Either way whether it be traction or just spring movement traction devices usually cure it to where it's almost eliminated. Keith's bars apparently work great. I have Caltrac's on Red for a long time without issues.

Grace can easily break the tires loose in 2nd. I have to work the peddle to keep her from roasting the 1 wheel!!!LOL I really need a locker! I hope to be installing the long bars in a couple of days!

When you install the locker will you be also changing gears?
 
No I have 3:92 in it now. By the way what locker did you install?
I use a 4:10 gear and a TrueTrac (DTT). I asked because if you reuse your current gear it is very easy to change the differential and replace all of the bearings with no need to re-measure for pinion shims. The shims are what are the hardest and time consuming for me. But you would simply reuse your current shims and only need to adjust the carrier bearings for tooth depth and preload. I have done this in my driveway to freshen bearings and seals.

Our trucks have the 31 spline axles right?

OK, I have found the tire size I am going with! A 295/45R/20! Also my rear is a 31 spline! So it is time to save up for tires and locker!!!
 
You might check Summit Parada yokohama they have some very good pricing for the larger tires. The smaller ones in the front cost more than the rears.??

Installed the long bars today! Any suggestions for set up? should I adjust them with weight on or off the wheels? preload? measuring angle?

Adjust them to expand truck on the ground. Rotate until slack is gone (extending) then add 1/4 and lock them down.
Well I did it I admit the truck responds a lot better! BUT It will still catch a wheel shifting from 1st to 2nd!!LOL I guess it is time to save up for that locker! No need in doing engine mods if it can't hold the power it has now!
 
Yeah without a locker in there I would expect that. One wheel wonder peel can't be stopped with traction bars alone lol. Locker and on the street you will be golden at a lower power level like you have.
