What to do with cam

So after 10 years with my truck I decide to put some money in it. I recently put in a cam headers cold air and I also got it tuned with the diablo sport trinity oh and it came with 373 gears. But I am very unhappy with the end results. It is not responsive or does not throw you back into the seat when you punch it, as it did before. I am not very knowledgeable about cams so I told my mechanic (who works with imports) to chose the one he thought was good for me, well this is what he ordered me comp cams 112-000-11 crh57 3016Q/3316Q hr115+2
Cam specs. Int Exh
adv dur: 280 287
dur@ .050: 230 236 lobe sep: 115.0
Valve lift .577 .555.

Now the guy that tuned it @ spankin time motorsports seams very reputable. He kind of said something about having got a bigger cam then what I wanted. Originally I just wanted the truck to be faster.

What are your thoughts on what I should do to get it faster. Oh and I'm not planning on supercharging it.

Agreed, that's a big stick. Especially for a 3/4 ton truck as heavy as they are. I would think a high stall converter would help, but IMO it's too much stick for a heavy truck. What year is the truck?

If you're ready to put more in it, then it's time to stroke it. If the finances aren't there, you may what to look at a more torqueier cam, and put yours on the shelf until you're ready.

Also, welcome to HTC. Glad you found us.

What to do

Thanx everyone for the advice and the welcome. My truck is a 2005 quad cab hemi daytona edition. Funds are gone so I have to save up again. I am now interested in torque converters and bigger gears. Do you guys think I should just get a torque converter now and maybe later I can change the cam for a smaller one? As far as adding more things I think that I only want to add the torque converter and bigger gears. And maybe get a smaller cam. What do you guys recommend for me? maybe I'll have to swipe the credit card. What exactly is done when you stroke an engine, and how much would that cost me.

One last question about that cam I have would that make me waste more gas or less? So far it seems like less, and I also upgraded it to 91 octane instead of 89. Don't know for sure yet. Tha

Thanx again everyone you guys are bad ***.

I'll throw this out there, I'll swap you my comp 268 for your cam. I'd need yours in hand 1st though, as my truck is my daily driver. I could swap it out in one day, and have the comp in the mail to you the following day.

You mentioned you have 3:73 gear, that is a gear for a 2500. Since you also say it's a Daytona I'm going to guess you don't have a 2500. What gear do you have? As for cams, IMO bigger is not better it must match your goal for the truck. Like most everything we do you have to have a goal and each mod is specific to help reach that goal. Such as a CAI, which is a good start.. What rpm are you intending to shift at? this will determine cam, gears and tire size. Do you tow? That will help in selecting a TC. These things all need to be taken into consideration. When you have a modified truck you need to feed it the best fuel available. And of course you need gages to keep track of how everything is doing and be able to data log for tuning. It's a never ending journey. Good luck...
