My wife and I are signed up to get our concealed handgun licenses. I'm looking at the Springfield xds or the Glock 36. Both are subcompact 45acp. Both are about the same size. What do yall carry as a concealed weapon? Also looking at the Glock 26 for my wife. She really likes the xds but they haven't released a 9mm version yet.

I agree with right to bear arms. I have my fair share. But there's no need to open carry. If you can legally buy I firearm you can get a concealed carry permit. No need causing fear in people who don't understand. Not to mention the risk of someone taking your firearm from you.

I'm in the camp that guns should be heard and not seen....

I currently live in a open carry state, I use to carry open on/off the job. I read some FBI statistics about pros/cons with open carry. It made me think, do I want to let the bad guy/guys see I am armed, giving up the element of surprize, making myself the first target. I carry concealed 24/7/365, and have for the past 10 years. I renew my CCW permit Feb. 23rd in this state, and when I move this year, I will get a new CCW permit in that state.

They're about to make open carry legal in TX... I remember when you couldn't even show an impression from under your shirt or you'd get in trouble

Thanks for sharing John! That looks neat and interesting :thumb: My only concern is abrasion discomfort. I'll have to see what the left side of whatever firearm I go with looks like. It's a really simple design, I like that part :thumb:

Bought my first handgun today  It's a Rock Island Armory 1911 that can shoot 9mm or 22TCM with a barrel swap along with a few other internals :D Not my picture but it's exactly the weapon I purchased plus it shows the 2 different caliber bullets side by side nicely :thumb: Really looking forward to getting to the "range" this weekend!

you will love the TCM. my brother in law and me both have one. they shot great, hardly any recoil. and if you order a new mag from them it holds 18 rounds.instead of 17 LOL.also the vz grips they sell are a nice add on.i like it shots a necked down 223 at 2000 ft. per second. also they tell you to change the spring an extractor when you go to 9mm. but i never have just the barrel and it shots fine . have had it for a year and a half.like others have said, if carried it so much that most the time i forget its there.i use a bladetec iwb holsteri took awhile to get use to,because i open carried out here, but like i said know i don't even know its there i like it so much i might get another. enjoy:dance:

There's an ejector clip to you're supposed to change when switching calibers also if needed :thumb: it looks and feels nice. Going to mess up some targets this weekend. I bought both 22tcm and 9mm rounds. I'm figuring on eventually carrying it set up as 9, the 22tcm looks like it'll be super fun on the range :thumb:

The "range" is the pasture at the in-laws :D there'll be other people there too, good times :thumb: plus I need to shoot my deer gun and get that sighted in, bought a 24" fully rifled barrel for the 12 ga. that came this week too :D

Finally got a picture of it. Man is this thing fun to shoot! Probably going to run 9mm most of the time but that 22TCM sure is a spunky little round! The only issue I had with it was that the spent TCM rounds didn't seem to want to extract very well. I'm not the only one and I found some good information on the 1911 forum about this issue. Made a few "minor adjustments" and am looking forward to hitting the range again this weekend hopefully :D

SORRY to hear your having a minor problem,i've never had a problem with my 22 tcm's extract, matter of a fact they fly two benches to the right at the range.
once you get it worked out you'll love it. just remember if you sight it in with the 9mm.scince your going to run it that way. it will be quite a bit off on the tcm 22. is what i found out. i only run the tcm 22 because i carry it every day, and i only want to shoot once. lol:facepalm:

Wow what a difference! I'm much happier with the 22tcm now! First go around I had something like 12 or 14 casings fail to eject out of 50. I gave the chamber a light polish and upped the tension on the ejector clip. Much better results only having 3 FTE in 100 rounds :D 2 with the first clip and all 3 were in the first box. Last 50 ran like clockwork :D Let my friend put 10 down range and he shot my TCM in a tighter group than he shot his own 9mm! :brows: He was very impressed. I was switching back and forth between 9mm and 22tcm and both rounds were very close at 25 yards. I can confidently shoot either at that distance without moving sights or even really thinking about it :thumb: Very happy with this gun! Now to get my ccw :cowboy1_icon:
