Yep, it officially happened today with less than 26k on the odometer. Threw the infamous 0734 and 0735, incorrect ratios for 4th and 5th gears.... Just freaking great, I don't have much cash now after doing all my mods lately. I guess I need to start looking for a transmission from the junkyard, I can't afford a Sharadon nor do I really want to, it'd be like polishing a turd! If I was do anything else it would be what Otneil did, though I'm not sure what to do about keeping the PCM happy, no manual PCMs available in the 09+ CANBUS PCMs.

Sucks to hear Tyler but get a stock trans back in, keep the exhaust and put the rest back to stock and enjoy having a nice reliable truck. Best thing I ever did to mine was go back to stock
Dude don't encourage that :icon_nono:

They should have rebuilt that entire trans not just slap a pump in it that's shotty work they new stuff went all over with a failure like that its the pump hello it was pumping metal thru the trans this is why I don't like dealers (not all are that stupid I hope) put a stock converter in there somehow and get you a new one

Quick question, will TCM support the 68rfe? What needs to be done?

#69 ·
Yea, as of right now I should be free.
I really appreciate the offer Neil, but I'm gonna use the converter Steve offered me because it is out of a 2011.
No problem, now just keep my fingers crossed the mod monkey keeps his fingers off my truck lol
What about that Y-pipe we had talked about awhile ago.

Yeah, Stu it has already been made for us, the 2012+ Hemi 2500 all use the 66rfe. The 66rfe has the internals and gear ratios as the 68rfe(the diesel transmission, different case and bellhousing) stuffed in to a 545rfe case. Just need a reprogram, it would be a great, cheapish solution.
I'm gonna check out my under my Dad's 2012 2500 Hemi to look at the wire harness. It should all be plug and play minus the tune.
For the same reason that the 2009 and newer model years can't use older programming and switch to a manual PCM, the 66rfe won't be backwards compatible with the 2008 and older model years, but I could be wrong.

Here's the 545rfe gear ratios;

1st 3.00:1
2nd 1.67:1
2nd Prime 1.50:1
3rd 1.00:1
4th 0.75:1
5th 0.67:1
Reverse 3.00:1

And here's the 66rfe ratios;

1st 3.231:1
2nd 1.837:1
3rd 1.410:1
4th 1.000:1
5th 0.816:1
6th 0.625:1
Reverse 4.444:1

I'm in love with the gear ratios alone, plus I don't have to worry about 2nd prime or the clutches it shares with our overdrive.

That sounds good, who can do the reflash?

Arrington and B&G have combined forces. I guess my question should have been, can a dealership do the reflash?

Thanks,

My Dad's completely stock 6000lb 4wd Crewcab with 3.73s moves out very well for what it is, surprised the hell out of me first time riding in it. It pulled the boat so much better than my little half ton did too...

OK been doing a little more reading on this subject and turns out some other people interested in it as well. Hopefully Josh can be the first one down this road first so I can avoid any mistakes if any to save me time and money if I do make the swap.

So far the only minor inconveniences, other than the tuning aspect, would be the slip yoke of the 66 is a slightly larger diameter which means we have to either swap the tail of our 545 onto the 66 or swap yokes. Other thing is the 2500 PCM has 4 pins missing that are for the MDS system, big deal... I hate MDS and disabled it every time I loaded a tune. It uses the same converter, shift linkage, sensors, and wire harness.
