When we ordered the pistons for the 6" rod's, we were told that the pin hole would not be in the oil ring. There should have been .060" clearance between the two. Double checked with Ross and everything checked out okay with the build sheet. They must have moved all the ring lands down from the top of the piston. After waiting 11 weeks for them to get here, I'm not going to send them back. I tip my hat to Ross however. The pistons were completed by the date they said except that they forgot about the oil squirters. Our's had to go back and get the notch cut in them to accomodate the squirters. For anyone that ordered 6.1 piston's after ours, Ross already had the problem cured. Then someone at Ross, messed up one of the pin holes on one of the pistons. Another delay. Atleast at Ross, they were proud enough, and truthful enough, to man up to their mistakes. After all, most humans make mistakes. Ross differs from another company I've dealt with lately. This other company, who's words mean nothing more than lies to me,............. I'll just leave it at that. Most people in the know, know which company that is anyways. Yes, by the way, THAT is an upper ring groove!

Nice stuff Jerry. Did you gt the package I sent you to Sharadon? I know who your talking about and I hear they are having trouble again. I thought the oil rings were not going to be in the pistin pin hole though. I will be ordering my set of pistons hopefully next Mon. I got a set of Carrillo rods from STU (thanks again). You planning on getting the tops coated? What rings and piston pins you going w/? Later,

Uniball, I recieved the package yesterday. Thanks again! When we were designing our pistons, the oil ring was suppose to be out of the pin hole. The engineers at Ross must have come up with a different design afterwards. ??? We have the Ross tapered pins that came with the pistons. Still working on the rings. We're planning on going with the gapless style.

SRT10KILLR, As far as coating the top of the pistons? We figure with the oil squirters, air to water intercooler and the water/meth injection, our pistons will stay quite happy under boost.

Notice the pretty bronze inserts for the valves! These are the only Hemi heads w/ that currently.
No, no there not.

They must have moved all the ring lands down from the top of the piston.
Correct.

From what I heard there won't be many of these bronze valve guide around. The amount of time to do it is extensive from what I heard. These are the only one w/ the bronze valve guides that I'm aware of and have seen. Who else is doing this?

Jerry, I'm ready for the pistons!!! You got mail.

superjay, Did you put the bronze valve guides in your heads also?
Yes, yes I did. Most shops do it in one of two ways. Old guide is bored out, and a thick,(.500) replacement guide installed. Or the guide is bored,(reamed), .030, and a thin Wall guide installed. Have pictures ready for this, but just get error message when I try to post them.

The ultimate shame. Using DTW to post a picture on HTC.
Thanks my friend.

I believe Clevite does. On another note, a manufacture I deal with called today, and said they will have the hemi valves in stock in the near future. Both in stock, and in oversize, at a good price.
