With the 46RH conversion successfully completed. Redtruck is in need of a mod or two. Next up is to finally get her tune dialed in. Keith has been doing the heavy lifting and I'm trying to give him a platform that is easier to work on than the Manual flashed automatic based PCM. According to B&G the current pcm flashed to manual trans can have issues due to software and hardware not being terminated properly. Bought a 03 manual PCM from ebay and found it to be junk. Apparently locked up from security lacking compatibility with my truck. Can't tell for sure since I took it to B&G to have it checked and it was DOA. Still going to use it for a core for a new PCM I've ordered. Told the guy it was dead and had been opened but he said "no problem". Manual trans PCM are a fairly rare bird just to note the obvious. The good news is the same pcm is used in Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500. And the vin doesn't necessarily need to match the vehicle. I ran a salvage yard pcm for a couple years before I reflashed it with a vin. Anyway next mod, take the new pcm to Dave@B&G for him to adjust idle, rev and speed limiters. Install a pair of BV heads. Then tune the old girl. I bought one of those push rod holders, so hopefully I won't have the same difficulties I had last time. So that's the run down on Red it's all good...

Called Summit about the shifter since it was suppose to have been shipped last week. Found out that was bs! Went off a little, but this is a TCI problem not Summit. Mentioned something about chinese contractor and the pisspoor service I'm getting. Apparently I was pretty close to the truth. Seems there is a Chinese contractor who does the engraving of the TCI logo and it is the problem. I told them I didn't need their logo engraved on anything and if they would ship it to me without the logo. I was told yes and they would ship it overnight. I received a $50 gift certificate from Summit. Now all I need is the ^#*#* shifter. I'm starting to get hot over this BS... Thursday I have an appointment to work on the exhaust. So this may turn out to be a good week after all.

I just received an email from UPS saying they are making a deliver from TCI tomorrow. I'll believe it when it is in my hands. Probably missing parts..... TCI has me pissed off, I think I'll put a B&M sticker on it's side.

so salty.....:hide:

I don't think salty is the word I'd use. But if TCI doesnt get their act together they will be out of business.

As long as you get your shifter I don't see how that's your problem :D hopefully it all works out for you :thumb:

Yes, hopefully

I have an aluminum plate bolted to the floor for the current floor shifter. I'm going to build a short pedestal or box to sit this one on to get the handle exactly at the angle and height I want. The FastGate is just about two inches shorter than I want. I can reach it with the center console pulled up, but with it down it's a little awkward.

Thanks, comparing it to the FastGate it is a nicer shifter with a better feel. But in all honesty not worth the hassle or the price.

Shifter mount suggestion:

I can make one for you, if you'd like.

It's a little hard for me to see, but it looks like you having it mounted on a pedestal? That's too nice for Red, Mine will be more utilitarian, lol How did you run the cable? The cable run was the main reason I mounted the FastGate on the floor. This round I'm going to put it were ever it needs to go. Thanks for the offer..

Yup, 2 pieces of flat stock, plus a reinforcement plate under the floor. Welded those up to the rectangle stock, that have the angles cut into them. Bolts go through that removable panel and sandwich the floor boards. It is tilted in the rear so that 1,2,D are almost straight up & down. It falls right where your hand is while leaning on the console. Then I just had it powder coated wrinkle black. The hole in the floor is directly below where you see the cable go under the carpet. Just use a hole saw for that.

Ok, now I see the cable going into the floor. Between my poor eyesight and my crummy laptop I didn't see it. lol
I'll fab up something very similar to what you have. I'm not sure of tilt angle and if I'll mount it at an slight angle away from me. I'll worry about it after the exhaust is finished. IMO, the new exhaust is not going to be as nice as the old system dumping just behind the roll pan. I'm looking at all 3" duals with a balance tube and just dumping in front of the rear axle. About as basic as you can get..... ugh

your new design is pretty much what I'm doing, except I'm using a big cased di/do muffy. I'm also using an x-pipe. My new muffy is far too loud, so I'm rethinking next steps there. Probably going with 2 smaller cased spintechs, but still dumped.

I have the new mufflers installed , if you can call them that. This sucker is loud! Not sure I can get use to it.

I'm bumping this picture, so I can show how I set the Aero 3030xl up when I had them on red.

#1,484 ·
Just throw in some earplugs. It's not like you have a radio to listen to anyway ;)

#1,485 ·
Huh did someone say something?
But the Aero 4040xl sounds so good on the diesel....

#1,487 ·
Turbos have a slight muffling effect :D

So are those the regular 3030? I need to get me some mega super duper stupid loudness......:D

#1,488 ·
If the 3030 are louder than the XL as they should be, I don't know where you could run them without drawing unwanted attention. Red is going to have to be very careful around the lawman.

Answer: Iowa :D I ran no muffler for 5 years on my old truck :brows:
