Well guys I am back again. Im at a impass at the moment. I went through the cost of the cam and heads and all the little things in between. And now ive been looking into prochargers for my ram for the past couple weeks. Cam and heads arent out of the question but if im taking the top half of the engine apart i may aswell upgrade a couple things while Im at it. So ive been looking into prochargers. It seems alot easier to deal with exept the fact that these engines cant handle much boost. So im looking for some input with guys who have knowledge or has had a procharger. The pros and cons, maintainence and maybe so changes that i may need to do to the engine. Any advice would be great.

2005 dodge ram rcsb (early 05)
5.7 hemi
3.55 gears
Vararam intake (which i want to get rid of)
Moes performance ported 87mm throttle body (also heard that could be a problem with the procharger)
Pacesetter long tube headers with custom dual exaust and a magnaflow resonated x pipe.
I still wanna keep the truck a daily driver at this time. Im also plan on putting a detroit locker with 4.56 gears in a couple months.

You have IMO the perfect platform for the SC install. The 05 PCM is very tunable. You will need some kind of traction control for sure. Keeping the boost around 6psi should be very streetable. Good luck.. and it'll look similar to this..

The vararam would definitely have to go but I would think the TB will work. After all it's a stock TB that's been ported. The throttle blade is untouched.

Thats the reason why i wanna do it atxhemi, i love the way the vararam looks but its cheap and flimsy. I had to make my own brackets for it and the thing rubs on everything. Is there any hidden things i should know about procharging redtruck, like the maintence on them? Dont they take oil? and do i need to get different spark plugs?

Prochargers are sealed. But I've read the oil has to be changed but can't recall the duration. The vortech has oil line similar to a turbo. Keep the boost around 6-8 psi on stock internals. Anything more your asking for trouble. The main thing will be using a tuner that has tuned boosted hemi trucks.

Keith is by far the most knowledgeable source of information. He has certainly provided me with what I needed to get Red together. The SC is oil fed from a Tee you will need to install at the oil pressure sensor port. You will also need to install a drain back fitting on the oil pan. And a SRT4 2bar MAP and a screw in IAT sensor.

so you want to put a blower on it huh! 6psi all day long 8 in cold weather simply from cold denser air is about what you will get and that's if for the stock engine. if you build it it will take whatever you build it for most eng builders will have a ball park for yah. procharger is the best centrifugal kit out there as I don't believe they make the Paxton kits anymore. I have a Paxton kit that I have swapped the 1200 out for a vortech YSI-7 blower. I have a 2005 also and tune my own truck using cmr! I have no clue what hp I make but my engine is forged so it takes the punishment I dish it. you can make on 6-8 psi and 4:56 gears around 410 hp to the tires or at least that's what I made on my truck when it was stock. if your serious about doing this I would likely run the procharger kit andmod the blower since its self contained. the blowers procharger uses have a drain plug that's a pain to get to what I would suggest is adding an AN line drain tube to the blower so the oil changes can be done as if you were doing a truck oil change. there kits are also air-air where as mine is air-water. main diff is I can create my own atmosphere by cooling the water that cools the blower boost air where air-air can only cool as much as outside air is unless you spray it with co2 or nitrous but that costs extra coin every time. if you go this route and need any info on this subject deff ask and if you need tuning I can handle that for you also. these are some pics of my trucks setup.

My plans for the future are to also go with a charger

Whats the ball park price on getting a pro charger kit? How much more after that would it cost in mods to go with the charger?

How about if I've modded my truck to the point that the next step would be a charger. Is it worth getting the charger if I still wanna run my 35" tires? As far as street performance goes..

I've been looking for the same thing in super chargers for my PowerWagon. Just want some more umph. 35s are kinda heavy. I see kits for sale on Craigslist but they all fit something else. Anyone make brackets for the Hemi Ram?

Keith, do you have a template of the mounting bracket you made for me?

No but I have the plate I could remove and have copied but I'm sure it would be a decent amount this time around!
