So long story short I took my truck to shop to have no compression in cylinder 1 fixed and went back to find out now piston in cylinder 2 let lose and broke put hole in block. So now I am looking for a motor for a 2011 Ram 2500 SLT 4x4 5.7. My question is will a motor out of a 1500 work on my 2500 or is there differences and if so what are they. I have found some deals on 1500 motors but none for 2500. Also if anyone knows where I can look or find a motor or recommendations let me know. Thanks in advanced.

A 5.7 out of a 1500 will work no problem

Some places i have read say something about the Vvt and mds when doing an engin swap not being the same. Not exactly sure. But when I'm looking for engines no one list that the 5.7 1500 will work on a 2500 or a 2500 5.7 will work on a 1500. Wondering what the difference is because I can find 1500 engines for $1500-$2500 and can only find 2500 engines for $3000 and up with way more miles. I have to be missing something.
