I bet you did what I did in my research and look at the specs which say .709" reach for both. Borge do have .709" reach but only the thread area. The tr5 has that extended lip after the threads which puts it to the top of the hole and safe to use just by a little bit without creating a hot spot. The tr5 was the only plug at the time of blower kit that they could find to work that was colder now they have a ton of plugs out like the brisk plugs so even the tr5 can be changed to a diff style but it will work and it's cheap for under 10psi boost.

Brisk mentions the plug is used a lot in the high output mustang. Go figure it's for a ford.....

I'll give it try, there's a lot of good things said about it.

Bill, what boost are you at?

Thanks, Bill
Did I read correctly that you have 8.5 cr or was that another engine?

Well plugs are in and running good lol. Took me two hrs to get them in dammit! The carbon had built up a little on the threads I guess from not having plugs in there. Anyway went and made a pill or 3 with Ariel lol and all is good trims need a little more file up high that's for sure and truck pulls stupid hard.

I was fortunate as I was able to screw all the new plugs in by hand. Did you check one after the pull? I'm curious to see how it looks..

#1,996 ·
Ok, I'll watch for that.. lean?

#1,999 ·
Gotcha, I'll first make a pull with w/m on and see where it's at.

ok well all went well with the plugs and what not lol then I found anew issue! my injectors are to small for my hp and engine lol. I discovered this by monitoring my injector pw. my injector pw is 20318 us or 20.318 ms at 6300

if you do the math on that of (20ms x 6300rpm)/1200=105% duty cycle or way to small lol. so now to find bigger injectors. I thought about using the boost port on the regulator but that will only net me about another 6lbs higher flow rate at 12psi boost so no good there either. all in all I now need to hunt down some 80lb injectors for this beast.

I will be hunting down some monster 80lb injectors this should bring me down to the 80% duty cycle safe range and allow alittle room for more later if need be. 80lb injectors are basically an 850 max safe hp range injector using the injector calculators you can find online. so now the hunt is on again lol.

Is that why the afr went lean because of the injectors? I did a couple pulls up to 6k and my afr was nailed 11.8 to 11.5. I'll now make a pull with w/m off to see where I'm at.

yes that is why leaned out greg! last night I added a ton of fuel to the trims to make it swing rich but it didn't move and still went lean up high. this had me wondering so I monitored PW and low a behold it was was to high. so I am looking into 80lb injectors and lowring the fuel pressure possibly to make them scalable easier or going with 72lb injectors and running same pressure. either way it will work if I get the big guys and run lower pressure that laves me some extra pump flow on the table and allows me some later power down the road. I have found a set of 80lb for $350 and 72lb for $400 so I will likely go bigger for room to grow don't want to have to do this again lol. fuel pump is holding strong so far but we will see when I get the flow corrected it may not be enough will keep everyone posted on that end.

side note I will have a set of 52lb injectors 60lb at 59 psi up for sale soon enough lol! they are ford injectors ev6 style plug and play. they will need to be scaled in cmr to run them!

lol it gets better. looked at my log from yesterday and a few older ones too. my injectors after I added the ysi blower into the mix have been to small the second I clear 4250 rpm if you follow the 80-85% pw rule hahaha. the second I punch it with them in there the pw is rite at 85% and rapidly goes up to over 100% on time or very bad for them range. injectors are deff req along with an entire eng retune. when you run the injectors high pw like that they actually in most cases flow worse and the stream gets all crapy. so we will see what happens coming up soon enough.

ok new injectors are in and working great. adjusted the tune and fired up first shot and drove great. made a short cruise log and trims are very solid only about 7% off very easy adjustment for that. then made a short wot run and oh my lol need to adjust the afr up there for sure. the afr went to dead 10.0:1 instantly so I will be taking a little fuel off the boost table that's for sure. the injectors are 80lb/hr siemen deka 4 long style. at 59 psi they are 93lb injectors and they run and drive fine and idle fuel trims is 0 better than before cant believe that but hey its there and 0. now to adjust the afr for wot and see if the pump can keep up now. if the pump cant keep up I have a plan for that already in the works!

Sounds good Keith. I'm interested in hearing about how it runs wot once adjusted. Well done...

Well got bored lol and went out playing. Took 9% off the wot area and AFR came to 10.5 range solid so going to pull another 4% want to be around 11.0 range at my boost level for safety sake for now. At the dyno I will lean it down just a touch of need be and see how it works out power wise.

Ok so went out testing today again. 94degrees here outside and 107 intake air temp saw 198.6 or 14.1 psi of boost at 6500rpm on a hot day. This is on a 10.5:1 or maybe higher comp engine and no knock at all. The meth runs 100% at 8psi and lowers afr .5-.7 dead on what I want it to do. It will be I retesting to see what the truck will do in colder weather and with my track intake setup. I have a feeling I am going to go very fast here this winter and maybe need some more safety/support mods! We will see.
