She went to the yard for a massive overhaul after you were on her. They re-did just about all the spaces and fitted her with new desalinators. I think they also overhauled the engines. By the time I got to her, she was looking raggedy again. Someone told me she's still in service as a training ship, but is about to be decommissioned. Did you know that Kennedy and Enterprise have each other's keels?

Welcome everyone! It is nice to see our numbers continue to grow. As you have probably already noticed, we get a tremendous amount of support from the folks here.
RoundTuit, are you on McGuire? What sqdn? I am CES, I usually park my truck across the street from Trans (Oops! I mean LRS).

Welcome <span class="ev_code_RED">David </span>!!!

Damn George...is that a B-58 Hustler?
I haven't seen one of those in many, many years.
When they replaced the old B-36's with those I thought it was so cool. They could get over the top of our house so much faster than the lumbering B-36's, but they didn't last long. The 52's replaced them both.

Doug I am glad to see someone remembers the fastest supersonic nuclear bomber in Air Force History.

Only two wings flew the '58, the 43rd out of Carswell AFB and the 305th out of McDill AFB.

So I am sure that you lived near Carswell. These are a sight to behold, and a real shame that there are no operational airframes flying today.

Last flown in 1970 the '58 was a difficult aircraft to fly and expensive to maintain. The cold war missions they were designed for kept the Russians in a constant state of fear.

This was the ultimate in on the deck Mach 2+ delivery platform.

Below is a photo of the 1962 Bendix Trophy winning Hustler.

LA to NYC in 2 hours and 58.71 sec

Average speed-1,214.65 mph

One hell of a aircraft!

Military service has become more of a hobby now - something to break the monotony of average everyday civilian life.

Much love to my brothers and sisters in uniform!
