I thought I would pass this on for those a little confused by all the different
Melling Oil Pumps..... I was !! So I emailed Melling asking for some clarification on the different oil pumps they offer for the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemi engines . This is the response :
Gentlemen PLEASE : explain once and for all the differences between the Melling
M342: stock 5.7 pump
M362: same as the M342 with the exception of the bypass spring, the M362 has a higher bypass setting than the M342
M10342: performance version of the M342, standard volume high pressure pump, hard coat anodized body, will include 2 optional bypass springs.
M10342BR: same as the M10342 but has a billet steel rotor set.
I also asked for a recommendation :
I am building a street 392 stroker from a 5.7 Hemi , expecting to see 6300 rpm .What pump do you recommend ??
Answer: M10342, unless it will be supercharged, if so use the M10342BR
