HP Tuners VCM Suite, is it any good, anyone here have any experience with this system and soft ware?
I have a chance to get it (owners of the company I work for are asking if they buy it for me will I use it) just wondering if it's worth it or should I try and get the diablo instead

Making progress, connected to red and copied the cmr tune to the computer hard drive. Archieved the original and made a work copy to look /edit.. Next step will be to unmarry the DSP from red and the load the tune back into the pcm using the HP tuner. Problem is the credits I bought to load the tune need an activation number that I don't know where its at. I'm sure its me, but still frustrating. I started what they call a ticket to establish my cry for help.. we will see..

Yep, apparently I missed the instruction saying I had to re-sync while connected to the internet. Which makes perfect sense to me. But after you re-sync there is no indication anything happened but a statement "re-sync" completed. But if you back out of there and go to information you will see credits purchased and credits used. Very cleaver folks to hide credit info there.

Loaded the saved HP file back to Red and she fired right up, sounding good. Made a warmup log which I'll attempt to decipher tonight

Actually did a little tuning today. Changed the TB airflow table. From what I read mopar has a lot going on in the background we may never figure out. If you thump on it of course it goes wot, but if you lean on it slowly going to say 70%. There are limiters to keep the TB in check, holding the TB at around 350 scale on the table. When throttle goes above 70% it leaps to the wot position. Have you heard the term light switch? Ok so if the TB scale starts at 0 and the top of the scale is 1150 you can see there is a hell of a big jump from 350. But if you change the scale to start at 0 and change the top number on the table to 400 then smooth it back to around 125 on the table. Now you have full control over the TB opening in direct relationship with the throttle. ....

That makes sense. I’ve often noticed the “spots” in the pedal position that would jump the acceleration. I don’t like that, I want a 1:1 throttle body to pedal relationship

Sounds like your picking it up pretty quickly. Or at least this section. Very interested to follow your progress with it. :thumb::thumb:

There is a lot to learn. So I'm just mimicking what others are doing. With a backup file..... lol

Stu, your quote was taken out of context.. says a lot about your character..

Time to move on.... new game in town...

Keith are you at all interested in picking up hp tuners or you sticking with diablo for good?

i dont do this enough to need to switch over to HP tuners. when i do switch the tuning device for my truck i will be going to a full holley digital dash unit setup in the near future. for now i will just keep tinkering with diablo. i am confident i dont need anything more than diablo to push over 1000 hp if i wanted to as the hellcats and demons do it. only real reason to swith would be for maybe a little better tunability but again i have not used it and cannot attest to it.

i cant tell you Greg is setting some damn impressive times with my tune using diablo right now i still want to see a full pass on that last tune. hell i want to see my truck on a full pass too

There are some exciting times ahead. Thats for sure

My throttle is almost too sensitive, it is difficult to control at partial throttle while getting tossed around. So I thought I would attempt to align the three Airflow tables closer then adjust from there. The experiment failed, but I still am excited that I could make the adjustments, test it and put it back to were I was to begin with. It seems there is a hierarchy among the tables. Lots to learn...

Your good to go Mario tuning wise.

Stu your KRC tune is not a tune at all remember I have a copy of it and can take screen shots of what’s actually changed and it’s basically nothing. that cam will just run on a stock pcm tune basically is why you have been able to get by so long with it.

I'm having a glich with the beta scanner. It has stopped being able to save new scan files to the laptop. Went to my HP account and found out it was a 3-1/2 hour download time using my hot spot. I'll download a fresh copy tomorrow while in town. Hot and muggy here with the deer flies steadily attacking...

Mark, I think you maybe right... lol are you making progress in getting set up?

I have had some other things to do. computer is all set up I'm all registered waiting for Billy to kind of walk me through installing the software in the PCM and copying the tune he created with CMR. maybe this week I'll have the truck running on HP tunes......

The credits seemed confusing at first. But it is simple when actually done. I registered my account. Bought 2 credits using paypal. I expected to recieve something from HP and didn't. Tried to re-sync to get the credits to show. Finally I guess I stumbled onto where they showed in the editor. Loaded my file to the pcm via the obdii port and it asked me a couple times if that was what I really wanted to do. When confirmed it used my two credits and was then licensed to my vehicle.
