Your all invited to our Chapter GTG on October the 19th....
Place: 4709 Rains CR 2470, Emory, Texas
Time: 1:pM to 4:pM....or whenever. We know many or some will be going to Sulphur Springs for the truck-pulls that start at 6PM. It's about a 20 minute drive from here to the pull location.
Menu will be brisket, beans and tater salad. We will also have hot dogs for the kids or anyone that wants one. Jay is bringing sausage from Bastrop and other goodies...chips etc. I know Queen Kima will be bringing something, and I'll bet it's some kind of desert. The plan is also to have marshmallows for roasting or Smores too. Feel free to bring anything you would like to add. Drinks are up to what ever you want to bring. :)
There will be horseshoes if anyone is up to it.....no commode seat throwing like in Branson. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and coolers. Fishing poles for the kids and their supervisors. :) Small pond full of brim/perch and the water that's left in the larger pond is stocked with bass....to over 10 pounds so don't bring light tackle for that. Not sure what has survived 3 years of drought but have seen a few decent bass feeding...crappie were stocked for bass food. Have been a few barn doors caught a few years back.

We need a head count to make sure no one leaves hungry. We will have at least 3 canopies for shade a picnic table and a couple of card tables for food. Anything you think might be needed and are willing to bring will be appreciated.

I'll have a map with directions posted soon....having issues getting things done with one arm....one finger typing isn't working to well. I go back to get my stitches out the 14th so maybe I can get some mowing and clean up done.

This being so close to Halloween we're making it kind of a Halloween party too. Costumes are optional for kids and grown ups.....make that "Bigger Kids". Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. :)

Anyone needing a hotel here is the number for our new Best Western---Emory--903-473-2022. I think Jay & Barb, David, Megan and family have made their reservations already.

Attendees:
Rancher - Doug & Mary
The Muffins - Morris and Kima
Pull-ya's - Jay and Barb
redneckon1's - Carr, Tiff and girls
DDCHEMI's - David, Cathleen and girls
madcat's - Phil, Megan and kids

Think they'll make it's:
JLHRAM - Jim and Gail****************not going to make it. :(
truckerfam - wifey and kids + ???

If you have problems with the map let me know and I'll try something else. It's about 15 miles from town to the "Pull" site.

See just teasing about the rain made it happen... thinking I have a gift! Or chose the wrong career. Either way...have one (of something) for me!

should hear back this week...but not holding my breath, but no big deal...I'm OK with it (less stress this way). How's things down there?

Hubs should be coming through 30 in time for the pull. I know it gets annoying with the "maybe/maybe not stuff", but welcome to my life as a trucker's wife. Can never make plans set in stone because something is bound to come up that screws everything up. We will be there because the kids need Daddy time. Currently making applesauce. Have a HUGE pot full of apples cooking down and still have a bag and a half left to put up. Making zucchini bread in a jar and throwing together beef stew in the crockpot since he will be in tomorrow and heading out Tuesday around noon.

Ok, I'm a HAPPY wifey! Ended up with 11 pints of *organic* applesauce!!! The kids are supplied for a week or 10. :) Now I have to get MORE pint jars so I can make bread in a jar. Learned a lesson doing this: don't use a mix of Granny Smith with Gala. Use Gala because Granny Smith's require extra sugar to make up for how sour they are!

If there is a change in your status please let me know today.
No change in my status....still married.....still overworked and underpaid....still the TX president.....still want to be the president of the United States.....still coming to your house Saturday. :D

Not my week.... Just got back from the doctor's office. Had a toe nail that was growing in and all I wanted him to do was trim it back so it wouldn't hurt. He took half the nail off so now I'm "supposed" to sit with my foot elevated. Fat chance of that happening. With all the rain we needed so badly I'm to far behind to sit around. I know I wont get things done that I intended but I'm going to give it my best shot. The rest you'll just have to overlook. :(

Thanks for making my toes curl Doug. I can tell you my remedy for those if you want, but the doctor's is probably "safer". Involves a rag to bite down on, a pocket knife, and the word "dig"...not the most comforting way.
Hope you feel better and have a good GTG.

Sure that counts... doctors are like mechanics anyways right? Its mostly suggestions you "need". If any doctors are offended, I'm just kidding.
Keeping it elevated means a cooler by the recliner in this county in Ohio... don't know about Texas.

I've gone through all the threads to get our attendees and food.....I got confused on the food......remember, no one is expected to bring a food....here's what I've got:
1) Ranchers - bbq, potato salad, beans, hot dogs
2) Muffins - paper goods, chips & salsa
3) Pullyas - sausage and tortillas
4) DDC's
5) Madcats
6) Redneckon1's - spinach dip & sopapilla cheesecake ? on the food

The truckerfam I'm pretty sure was a yes but please clarify.
If I got anything else wrong please correct it. I'm working on limited sleep.

The GTG is at Doug's tomorrow from 1-4 then the truck pull in Sulphur Springs for those wanting to attend. Don't forget, young or old, wear your costume.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!! And if you haven't signed up it's not too late. :thumb:
