So far responses I have for hotels in Hot Springs, AR:
Clarion Resort $112
Best Western Winners Circle $98

Pensacola, FL:
Quality Inn & Suites $104
Comfort Inn $107
Best Western Blue Angel Inn $93

These rates are per night and don't include the taxes. I am still waiting on responses for other hotels in both states, but I wanted to keep y'all informed.

#43 ·
Spoke with a lady from the chamber that handles group request. She said group rates range from 98+tax up to 159+tax a night. I told her we would be willing to go about 20 miles outside the main area and she said the rates are still about the same.

I did get a list of attractions down there. So I can put together a list and prices but with the hotel prices, I really don't think many will attend with the prices.

#47 ·
At the risk of being considered a (insert your word of choice) that the reason the hotel/motel rates are "high" in both locations is the fact that the dates picked are considered peak tourist times ergo higher room rates. If I'm not mistaken many schools do have a "fall break" and maybe this time should be considered.

#48 ·
In Al. fall break is usually Monday and Tuesday of 2nd. week of Oct. There is no week off until Thanksgiving and then Christmas. We do get Spring Break the last week of March.I would like to have one in March but it seems most have wanted it in the summer.

#50 ·
We are not opposed to either spring or fall... we would pull haley out if need be for a vacation. she really doesn't get a fall break, she gets a spring break.

but yes prices are high because of peak tourist time.

The cooler option sounds great .

I checked rates from May to September and they don't change much in price. I am thinking it is the location. Hot Springs, AR is so limited on their hotels that they can set any rate they want because there is not much competition. Something to consider is weather traveling through the midwest. We have had ice storms into March and April before. The activities and things to do will be limited as well. Most generally acitivities don't start until Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend. Just a thought......

By the way Kima, I got my vacation time locked in too!

Anyone wanting to put a proposal for the rally this year please post it by February 15, 2017. We will then set up a vote and voting will be open until March 1st. THEN THE PLANNING, FUN, AND ANTICIPATION BEGIN!!

Your proposal needs to include place, hotel (this can be one or a couple of choices) with pricing and a list of a few things to do. We can get to the nitty gritty of "what to do" when the vote is final.

Right now I know Lisa has a proposal for Hot Springs, Arkansas and Ken is working on one for Pensecola, Florida.

Garvan Woodland Gardens- Arkansas only 210 Acre Botanical Garden on located off the shores of Lake
Hamilton. Its dedication to the perseverance of the woodlands allows it to blooms year around. In the
month of December they change gears for Holiday Lights where they illuminate their landscape with
close to 4 million Christmas lights! Outside of the month of December, Motor Coach Groups can
schedule a greeting from Verna Garvan in the ever so famous Anthony’s Chapel. Check out this video of
her giving a spill to a group of folks in the Welcome Center. It’s not the same ambiance as the Chapel, but
it will give you her story. Her husband had her committed to an nut house, and tried to take her family
owned companies. Their divorce was made it to the Arkansas State Supreme Court, and she won!
Contact: Susan Harper- 501.262.9603; sharper@garvangardens.org. Allow 3 hours here with schedule
“Greeting” from Verna.

Visiting Hot Springs and not partaking in our Bathhouse scene is similar to going to Florida and not
going to the beach. It’s what has brought folks into Hot Springs for centuries. Be sure to take a look at the
attached documents related to the thermal bathing experience. These will describe our traditional bathing
experience for you in more detail, and provide you with the exact information you need to partake in
these services.
Mid- America Science Museum- As a kid, I grew up going to Mid America for field trips and family
outings. Even as a young adult I enjoyed going back to the museum. Then about two years ago then
underwent the incredible renovation which made it even more awesome then before! They also house the
world’s largest tassels. Contact: Audrey Phipher- audreyp@midamericamuseum.org, 501.767.3461 ext.
115. Allow 3-4 hours here.
Maxwell Blade Theater of Magic- This guys is fun for kids of all ages! Check out his promo video and his
“Meet the Locals” video: Allow 2 hours here.
Hot Springs Mountain Tower- Coaches over 30 feet can’t make it up the mountain, but Lynn Barrett with
Anita Lynn Historic Tours will shuttle your group up the mountain for $2 round trip. Group rates at the
tower are $2-4 depending on the age of your group. Contact: Lynn Barrett: 501.701.0721. Lynn also
offers a terrific Step On services. Allow up 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the
group.
AdVenture Works Zip Line Park (Not for this group, but possibly another). We have a package set up with
them where the group can cook s’mores at the campfire after their zip, and they will have a chance to see
a BIG Foot! Contact: Jacob Freeman- Jacob@adventureworks.com; 501.262.9182.
See Hot Springs Attractions AKA: T- Rex Attractions: Go Kart Track, Laser Tag, and Indoor Mini Golf all
in one! They also own National Park Duck Tours, Bathhouse Row Winery, Central Lanes Bowling, and
the Winery of Hot Springs. AND Coming soon is a new Ropes Course! You can package these attractions
in so many ways its un real! Contact: Stacy Roberts: 501.520.1242; duckwaxwine@yahoo.com. The
hours you can spend here are limitless, but at least plan for 3 hours.
Fun Trackers Family Fun Park- Go Karts, Out Door Min Golf , Arcade, and Bumper Boats. Also would
make a great package or an afternoon trip following Mid- America Science Museum as they both sit on
the same sides of town. I also think they are gearing up or have just opened Laser Tag at this location.
Contact: Lisa Crispino; lisa@funtrackersfamilypark.com; 501.767-8140. Plan for at least 2-3 hours
