Going to need a new cam doubt you will get that little guy out sadly.

Also need to ask why this happened. The cam would have to see enough resistance to slow it enough that the pin snaps. It’s little bit it’s very strong. Next step I would do before a cam is a leak down test to make sure all the valves in every cylinder are good.

Yea i think im gonna pull the motor out and check everything over. I'm not sure what really caused it however, I know when I was having cam sensor issues with my old 03 it would studder real bad when it acted up. I wonder if:
A. That the pop i heard was the studder and it jarred the cam
Or
B. I may have a valve issue

I would think if a dropped a valve or a seat it would interfere with the piston and i wouldn't be able to crank the motor over by hand though. You have more experience than I do with that.

As far as a leak down test, ive never done that before but figured it is a good idea. What special million dollar tool do I need for that???...lol

The source of your problem is most likely a spun rear cam bearing.

The cam bearing is pressed into the block. See if the cam will turn. If you can turn the cam then with the rocker arms removed it will push the lifters up out of the way and the cam can be removed for inspection.

03 is the only year that doesn't have egr. Why? My guess it wasn't legally required.

Well I'm down to the differential as far as getting this motor out. I'm debating if its gonna be easier to just take the motor mount off the motor or try to take off all these bolts for the differential. I have everything sprayed down with lubricant and letting it sit over night for right now but the "3 bolts" that everyone has a hard time with, i had a big breaker bar on and damn near hung from it. Im 280...roughly...and it didn't even budge so im hoping 1 of favorite hemi guys has a great idea....lol

Not good. May need a liquid wrench to turn those little guys orange to loosen them. Those bolts will have to come out. Removing the mount might also be an option never tryed it that way though

My 05 doesn't have an EGR...........anymore! <img src="http://www.hemitruckclub.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" />
Whats all involved with doing away with it? It really makes tune ups and anything having to do with that valve cover a pain in the a$$

Alright guys I have all the bell housing bolts out, exhaust disconnected, torque comverter bolts out and the motor mounts COMPLETELY removed...lol...i can't get this thing separated from the tranny. Anything im missing. I dont remember this being this difficult on our old 05 durango we had...so what the heck am I missing?? Its connected SOLID to the tranny

Sounds like you still have some bolts holding it..

So i just left summit racing. I didn't get lifters because I got a little sticker shock at 92.99/set of 4. Is that a good price? Anyone have a place to maybe get em a little cheaper? I really hate to do this job and not change those. I assume that would be a bad idea

So apparently my intake valves on the driver side are hitting the pistons. I havent even taken the other head off yet. These are in order of 1,3,5,7
