Towing Advice?

Ok so heres my specs.
2017 RAM 2500 Crew Cab 5.7 Hemi with 3.73 gears. I have a tow behind camper dry weight 8350lbs. My tow cap for this truck is 11,750 lbs. My total weight will not exceed 9000. We are headed from Atlanta to New York this Summer. Anyone with experience with the 5.7 Ram 2500. Advice??

The 5.7 in HD's are a bit of a dog in my opinion (but I do have a 6.7 so I could be biased here), only made worse by strapping 9k behind you so give yourself plenty of room to get up to speed as well as slow down.

WDH and trailer brakes will be your friend if set properly. If you've never towed with coil rear suspension before just be alert that things can wiggle to a respective side versus just bouncing up and down on a leaf sprung truck. Made me ask WTH the first time anyways.

Not sure what you're travel path is going to be but the further east you travel the less you'll deal with hills and mountains.

AIs there anything else i should consider for this trip? We will go the I-85 route through PA and then 95 back home along the coast..I bought this truck used from a dealership, and i dont know its tow history being that it has 40k on it. So i plan to bring it in and have the fluids checked in the rear end to make sure we are ok there, and change them if necessary.

Also, what are your thoughts on a tranny cooler? (I am secretly hoping you say that i don't really need it)

I can't speak with absolute certainty but I'd be willing to bet your truck already has a trans cooler. I'd be more surprised if it didn't.

Also if I85 takes you all the way to PA, throw out your GPS, pretty sure it ends in VA just south of Richmond.

Whoops, i meant I-81 to PA..... I did look and it looks as if i do have a tranny cooler. Thanks guys
