the seats unbolts fairly easy I think 4 bolts or nuts to remove and you can lay it back to check everything,,if I read your post correctly its one side of the seat tries to move and other side doesn't ,,look in the track to see if something is lodged in it , I have seen a penny lodge in a seat track an prevent moving on one side

Never thought it could be something that simple for some reason.

Mine will move forward and backwards, and can tilt up/down the front section of the seat, but cannot tilt the rear section at all. I assume the button works because I can hear the motor, it just won't move the back part. Hopefully it is something that simple, I'm only 5'10" so it would be nice to be able to properly raise my seat up.
