I take my tranny temp. from the tranny to cooler hard line so I get the temp. while the fluid is still hot going to the tranny cooler.

Got some more goodies today. Have everything for my gear swap now 3.73 to 4.56. Don't think I will do this weekend. Daughter has prom sat. Got the dipstick and 52psi pressure switch. Cooler, fittings and lines expected tomorrow. Stage 3 kit en route from PATC. Hopefully Andre has got my verter close to sending. Vacuum switch, TV cable and latching relay module also on the way. So far I am at $1892.95 for all goodies tax and shipping. $200 for trans. So approx $2200 for swap with fluid. Now remember I am installing a whole new cooler system at approx $120. And I am also going billet on the converter extra $150. 2800 stall. This thing is gonna be badass.:thumb: Bonus should be good when I finish this building might throw a turbo at this thing next. About 6 to 8 psi is what I've been told by a little birdy. My front half shaft u joints are clacking pretty good guess '
I'll be doing those soon too. I will be taking lots of pics of this hopeful no need of the starter and flywheel. Someone finish the Saturn for me so I can start on mine!!!

I think mine restricts flow a little on my setup. I want to take everything out of lines to offer free flow to and from cooler plus I went a little larger lines than the stockers.

Man see what I miss when I get sick..

So Stage 3 Kit is here! Got my cooler, all fittings and hose, TV cable, and vacuum switch. Converter was shipped yesterday expected Tuesday. I am swapping out the 42rh trans for the actual 46rh I found with my guy tomorrow morning. Gonna start some assembly this week. Try and get OD section ready. Gonna wait on front half until I can fit case and starter to see if this is gonna work. All that's left to receive is that latching relay module.

Well I am pretty sure this is the right one. Time to get moving on this thing. From first glance starter on 545 bolts from the trans side. Starter on 46 bolts from engine side. Might be a problem?

Note: 46 fasteners are SAE. Hemi metric...

Last pieces have arrived. Starting assembly this weekend! Hopefully Saturn does well this coming week and truck will get taken down until all work is complete next weekend. Got alot planned besides trans swap. Front axle half shaft u-joints. Rear end gears. Brake job. New muffler. 👍

Well got the OD section all back together. I was able to get 9 frictions and 8 steels in OD direct. Measurement was 1.436" about .002 more than Keith got. I did 5 in the OD pack. Eliminated the top pressure plate using just a steel. Got all my sub assemblies done. Input drum was at .040 with 4 in it. Direct drum has 6 in it. I had to swap bottom steel in that pack to a thicker one to get .065. Valve body is setup Heavy duty with Fairbanks kit. Drilled hole for rear sprag extra lube. Got all my servos ready to go back in. Next weekend I will be pulling old one out of truck and figuring this starter clearance out. Once that is good I will finish assembly and install. Crossmember fix and measure driveshaft for shortening. I am gonna wait on front u-joints and brakes till after I know this thing is gonna go. I will do rear end while it's down. So hopefully some nights and two weekends I will be up and running.

So I talked with Keith yesterday for a bit. I had bought a 46 rh starter. I placed it on the 46 bell. First two pics of course lines up perfect. Second two pics same starter on 545 bell dont line up. Keith had a 518 bell not the 46. He tried a 545rfe starter and it lined up on the 518 bell. Looks like if we go the 46rh route you still need the starter. But I think we have saved $209 on adapter plate with this verter from Edge. Same height and bolt spread. Only thing I will check is verter fully engaged for install on both. I will measure bolt flange to bell face. Andre told me .02 difference so we will see. I am moving forward based on this with my assembly.

Mines a 46rh using a 05 manual trans starter.

Tom, that looks like a really large starter motor to me..
