I was just looking at the 6.1 short block, and the 5.7 short block, and everything looks about the same. The 6.1 is missing a few bolt holes on the block, but nothing that appears to matter. I have seen people put 6.1 heads, timing set, oil pumps, push rods, lifters, crank, fuel injectors, and intakes on a 5.7 block. So couldn't I just get a 6.1 short block, and outfit it with all the 5.7 accessories? For example I bought a 6.1, and then get the Edelbrock heads 61119, or have mine sent out. The comp cam 268, and then just put everything else on the 5.7 on the 6.1 with whatever adapter I would need to make the 5.7 flywheel work on the 6.1 crank.
Am I missing something that wouldn't make this work?
