Stuff like this is always a compromise, the plan is simple and reversible. Check flipping the manifolds on both sides to see which side the turbo best fits. Maybe move the ps pump around to see where it best fits. This is a neat project with potential.

When i was planning my turbo build my first thought was to flip a set of oem manifolds only to find out that it wouldn't work because the bolt pattern is not reversible, meaning that if you try ro flip the manifolds /or headers the holes will be in the wrong place in relation to the holes in the cylinder head

Max, true you have to drill and tap the manifold holes.

You can drill & tap the center exhaust ports for reversed manifolds facing forward on 6.1 heads. Think you can also do the same with 5.7 gen 3 & 4 heads. You can't drill & tap for flipped up exhaust manifolds. The end ports aren't designed for drilling & tapping in the opposite corners.

Damn, was sure I read the gen3 head could be drilled. My bad..

It can be, just the center ports for reversed (not flipped) exhaust manifolds.

Was going to do that to the 03s 348 engine but, to be honest. Chickened out a at the last second before drilling... :surrender:
Chicken! Whats a few extra holes?

Hey,

How about if I showed pics on "how to" reverse the gen 3 oem truck manifolds for a front mount turbo set up? Using as much of the oem exhaust system as I can as well as the mods that have to be done on a stock Hemi engine. Also show how much it would cost as well as the performance gains. That might get people interested in installing a front mount turbo. :brows:

Could do it without reversing the exhaust manifolds too. Already have the driver side, and crossover pipe done.

Anyone interested?

When running under 10psi of boost life is so simple just using a bolt-on supercharger. But if high boost is wanted 12+psi my opinion is there are advantages in using a turbo to make things easy.

Is there any help by spacing the header off of the head using a a header flange?
