I dynoed my truck a while back and it shifts out of 3rd at 5300 every time. It did 288hp and somewhere around 300 ft lbs.

In 2nd gear it would only do 235ish hp which he said isn't an accurate number (obviously) but it did show hp climbing all the way to around 5800 rpms.

How are yall keeping it in 3rd gear all the way throughout the RPMs? We dynoed about 12 or 15 hemi cars that same day and none had this problem

Mine is an 07 with an ATS trans, supposed to be a 3k stall, pacesetter long tubes, gutted cats, x piped and dumped, 4.56 gears, intake, diablo 93 octane tune and moes 87mm throttle body. I figured it would do about 315-325 hp.

I've heard diablo is having problems with trans tuning. Could this be part of it? I've never updated it and I heard that the update is what screwed up the tuning. My shift points are raised 1-2 and 2-3 and it shifts pretty hard.

I dont have personal experience in doing this, but I've heard it said that after it shifts to 3rd at wot over 5000rpm you can pull the lever back to 2nd and itll hold 3rd gear. Check it out, I never tried it nor need to using a 46rh trans.

Believe you have to start the dyno run idling in first gear tire spinning, in drive, tow/haul off, Then to wot, pull down the shifted into 2nd when it goes into 2nd, then into drive and it will hold 3rd gear.

Keith(charged392) did it that way when he had a 545rfe in his truck I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong Keith. :thumb:

A floor shift would be easier to do that with.

You truck sounds good.:thumb::thumb:

Damn, my tow haul button doesn't work. I need to fix that anyway. Thanks Stu

I’ve heard stock hemis dyno at ~280 hp. I️ hope you can get 315 or more

Thats what I was thinking. The truck ran 14.81 100% stock. Best I've ran was 14.5 but never could get traction after the 4.56 gears. I havent ran it with the ATS trans, converter and throttle body. I know it's got a 13.9 in it. The truck runs killer

My truck on the dyno. Start in second roll up to about 4500 hammer it shift to D and when it get a to 4700 pull it back to 2nd and it should hold third.

Option B is get a tune and I can set 1-2 2-3 shift points so it will hold third longer.
That's got to feel a little crazy going wot strapped down. These boosted engines dont tend to roll up the rpms, more like explode and the shift lite kinda tells you where you are at....
Nice pull...

So you shift back to 2nd while it's in 3rd gear to hold 3rd gear but, from starting out in 2nd gear? Can you do that staring out in drive?

Didn't you have a vid of you doing the shift to hold 3rd on a 545rfe somewhere Keith?

I've done the downshift to second to hold 3rd at the track. It was scary the first time haha
I just don't have enough speed to actually get all the way up in rpms to worry about 4th

That worked good... makes wonder who figured that one out...

Honestly that number don’t sound all that far off. Stock 3g hemis I believe Dyno around 260-265ish. I’d hope to dyno around 310ish an I have a mild cam, also with the 3rd gear idk about with on a dyno. But when your wot thru gears an hit 3rd when you get to around 5k rpm shift it back to 2 it will make it hold 3rd

Edit.. just seen that Keith explained the how to. Just don’t got wot like that into 4th...
