So I decided I want my truck to be way quieter. I get modding will make it louder but I wanna try. I'm currently running headers straight to a magnaflow and out the back. I don't want anything restrictive since I do plan to continue moding my truck. Someone was telling me to add a cherry bomb but i don't know. What do you guys recommend?

Stu.. What are you running for exhaust I remember your truck was pretty quite?

The turbo helps reduce the exhaust noise. Don't think it will be as quiet on your truck with the same mufflers. I would ask Keith. He has allot of knowledge working on many cars and trucks. He would give you the best straight forward answer. :thumb::thumb:

Thanks Stu. What do you think Keith? You know my truck better than I do. lol

If you want it quiet going to have to change that muffler out. You wanna here that whistle don't you lol. Magnaflow makes a few hush type mifflers but if you want it to be really quiet get a factory muffler on there. Believe it or not they are not that restrictive and will be really quiet.

Magnaflow makes a 36" straight through that is relatively quiet idling and at highway cruise. Does get loud when you lean on it.

YOU could also do what I am going to be doing very soon after my move. I am ordering a new Y pipe and a boost activated cutout set (not electric in anyway). I will be getting a lift so why not use it rite lol. My cutouts will be in the Y sections leading to the muffler so when they open it will be total madness hahaha

Haha, no stealth mode there.. I can see them cracking open on pre-boost and scaring small children and faint of heart old folks...
I got a couple new cutout y pipes I have never used available if interested.. good luck with the lift... ugh..

It'll be interesting mod, take lots of pictures..

I really like the cut out idea. I might go that route. So a factory muffler won't restrict or hurt my performance mods. When I move I'm going to look for a factory one then. Thanks Keith I'm making another list of parts and mods I wanna due to the truck for after I move and save a few bucks again. I have a feeling by then the list is going to be pretty big. lol

Factory muffler on your engine won't hurt a thing a tiny bit maybe bit I even doubt that. Tell you what a factory muffler on there then it dumps in boost would scare some people lol that's what I'm going for but I will have the aero still just pipes out the rear with a dump before it!

I looked at one boost activated cutout, I don't make the boost needed to open the sucker... lol
one day....

Walker is known as an acceptable replacement muffler. IMO, I'd use a magnaflow.

I’d prefer a magnaflow too. I can’t remember what my current one is. I checked the magnaflow web sight and can’t tell which one would be the quietest.

What gets the sound down on a muffler? Is it inside chambers lay out and maybe the offset in and out?

Tail pipes quiet down an engine a lot. Straight through are louder than baffled. Mine doesn't get compliments anymore....

I like my Walker's quiet and stealthy.

The bigger the better when it comes to getting quiet Magnaflow muffler (think 5"x11" oval muffler with a 22" or 24" body length). If you can, do two single in/single out mufflers with an offset inlet and an offset outlet (more surface area inside the muffler and the turns will help direct the sound into the sound deadening). If that's still not enough you can add some smaller resonators upstream of the mufflers.
