Earlier this week I ordered a Sparco Evo II US race seat, and it is supposed to be here tomorrow. The seat itself only weighs 19lbs, and we are going to build the mounting brackets out of aluminum to keep that weight down as well. I have not weighed the stock seat yet, but it feels like every bit of 50-60lbs. If it isn't too terribly uncomfortable, then I will buy a 2nd one to put on the passenger side as well.

Has anyone else put a race seat in their truck yet?

While looking at the seats I see generally available they are all very narrow. Being a fat old man I need a wider seat. Have you found any in your search?

That's why I went with the Evo II US. I am 6'2" 200lbs, so it should fit me well. Sparco makes an Evo III which is the largest seat they make, and should be fine for the bigger guys. The Evo III only weighs 19.6lbs, so it isn't much heavier.

Sparco USA

Actually just saw that.. Apparently I've been looking at the wrong seats. Thanks,

Fat old man race seat.......:rofl::rofl:
Well as you get older and reflexes slow down you have to compensate and approach things differently. Like instead of a shift lite I use a shock collar.... :brows:

The Sparco seats are expensive, but they look nice, and are the lightest I could find aside from just a plastic shell. I'll throw some pics up next week once I get it in the truck. These cabs are huge, so I hope the seat doesn't look too small in there.

They will look ok sitting within a cage as the seats sit more toward the center of the cab. Which then leads to the problem the steering wheel is too far out and needs to be realigned to point toward the seat. It never ends....

I will be doing this soon as my truck cannot hold 4 people lol! It will be the daily street driven race truck basically. Will also be doing floor shifter lol man the list just grew some didn't it hahaha

Keith at least your cage will fit inside the cab.... ;)

Race seat is here. It was touch choosing the right seat because there isn't much info out there regarding what size seat fits and what is comfortable. Hopefully this will help you guys that are considering this mod.

This seat is the Sparco Evo II US. I am 6'2" 210lbs and have a 36" waist. I fit snug in this seat. It isn't tight to the point of it being uncomfortable, but there isn't any room to slide side to side either...pretty much perfect fit for drag racing purposes. The padding is thick and actually more comfortable than I thought it would be. Anyone with a size 38" or larger waist would probably want to go with the Evo III instead.

As for sizing in the cab, the seat looks proportional to the overall size of the cab. I think 2 of these would look very nice once installed. As soon as we get the driver side brackets complete, I will snap some pictures to show you how it looks in the cab. I have the passenger side seat on order already.

I like this. I'm definitely a III.... would like to see your mounts when you get them done.

What seats does Nathan have in his? Those aren't regular 1500 seats.

In the quest for race theme components, has anyone found a source for tubular lower A arms?

Yes there is 2" drop control arms I have seen that are tubular.
Keith, do you know the name of the manufacturer? Maybe something you could build?

I think it was DJM that makes the 2" lower control arms.
