hello i have a 03 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi sometimes when i start ot up and drive and press the brakes it tries to die and if i left off the brake it will idle back up and if i stay on the brake it dies any ideas need help

Possibly. Here's a test bit be careful trying as there won't be any assist when braking. Remove the line from the check valve on the brake booster and plug it off. Then do your normal leaving work approach and see if it acts up. If it does then booster is not an issue.

Transmission fluid level can affect idle, what if the converter was draining back raising the level and hasn't had time to circulate back to the proper level? This has to be something simple if it only happens under those specific conditions.

I don't know why the trans fluid level affects idle. Maybe Keith has an answer. But it has been reported more than a few times. Pressing the brakes activates a switch that is actually three switches, one switch sends 12vdc to the third brake light, another a speed control and brake sense to PCM. This is actually more involved then what I have listed as the Controller Anti-Lock Brakes also receives brake sense. None of what I see is an input to control idle. Are you turning the steering wheel as you press the brakes? The steering has a pressure switch that does raise the idle under high pressure steering load. If there is a load and it isn't compensated for it could cause the engine to stall.

We are testing things right now Gregg using Pm for comms but will deff post what we discover.
Thx, appreciate the update.. there is also a convoluted ground that goes through the IPM....

This may be a dumb question, but could this just be a dirty throttle body not letting enough air in at idle with a little load on the engine?
