Uh... I guess I can't prove wrong a stock Z06 pulling 10's... but I've never seen a 500hp, stock wheeled anything pull 10's.

If it's true, then every Z06 driver I've seen a the track must really not know how to drive, cause I've only seen 12's. Not that 12's is the best they could do, but you'd think 11's would be easy if the car can pull 10's. I'll have to keep an eye out this year.

I want a powder blue prius!!!

LOL.. no.. really I'd have to have a McLaren.

Did yall notice the notes on his slip?? That run was with a -850 DA. His 60' times were in the 1.7's so I have no problem beleiving it. MIR is a good track too. Let me find some videos of a c6 zo6 I have and I'll post them up.

Guitarted, read what you posted. That guy doesn't have a clue. All he knows is sliderules and calculators. Quote "Each shift alone costs about 1 second, thus 3 shifts alone is like 3 seconds lost and a loss of about 60-100 ft/bs of torque during upshifts and having engine recover from the loss of timing which is already low for WOT on the Z06."
Just that paragraph alone should clue you in that the guy is a little dumb...

If you really think 500 hp will make a corvette run 10's in the 1/4 mile on stock tires, then I'm F**king Ben Afleck

I disagree. I'll admit I've never seen a stock Z06 run 10's with my own two eyes but I've seen one get dang close. Here's one vid I finally found, he ran a 12.4 on his shakedown run. As it's obvious he had "slight" takeoff problems.LOL To me since this guy was knocking off 11.1-11.2's by the end of the day, I think it's perfectly reasonable for a better driver in better weather to knock another .3-.5 seconds off the time.I'll keep looking for the other vids..

Guys seriously think about this. A stock SRT-10 RAM can run high 12's in good weather with a really good driver. So your saying a very aerodynamic CAR that weighs at least 1600-1800lbs less, better traction, better gearing, less parasytic loss will only run 1 second quicker, with the "same" hp???? Based on times people have posted over and over, do you really think the LS7 only makes 500hp..

Heath! I just talked to a few gm gurus.....

It seems there are some zo6's dynoing more than 500 hp at the wheels, which means they are making way more crank horsepower. This explains the 10.90 passes........Gm is being Cheeky
Image
...but not necessarily lying about 505 hp.

If I was a zr1 owner...I'd be pissed over this, because they are not much faster than the zo6's

the C6 Z06 is a bone stock mid 12 second car with almost any driver, at ANY track. Add drag radials, a good tune, and the right weather it is easily a low 11s, high 10s car. Dollar for performance ratio, it is hard to beat. PERIOD. Generally the guys that get to own them, hardly ever DRIVE them to their fullest potential.

Phil....the Z06 clocked at 10.98 seconds/128mph was verified by the track manager with factory stock tires, and again verified at 10.83/130mph with Drag radials. This apparently does not apply to all Z06's.....just the lucky owners who got the cars with extra punch

It's not the first time radical cars have come from GM...in the 90's there were about 50 or so camaros that escaped the assembly line with corvette lt1's instead of camaro lt1's

go back in time a little further, and the original 426 hemi's were rated at 425 hp, where in fact they produced over 600hp
Image

at the same time GM had rated the 1970 chevelle ss LS6 454 at 450 hp.....and it actually made just under 500hp

Mr. Aflek,That's why I try not to read too much into manufacturers specs

(sorry I couldn't resist). You never know if they're underrating, overating, etc. What was it back in 99 ford rated the cobras at 305hp, and in fact they weren't making anymore power than GT's. That was a costly mistake after the class action suit.LOL

It seems like I remember that all of the LS7's are assembled by the same person, so that "should" make them perform similar. I think that 10 sec vette was mainly because of the driver and weather conditions. Out of curiosity I wonder what he could get the new vipers, and the ZR1's to run in similar weather???

no worries!

I just knew it couldn't be done with 500 crank horsepower. So it was either driver BS...or motor BS. I had to find out either way. It was buggin me all day
Image
.

The only way to find out what the new zr1's and vipers are capable of is to get them on a dyno. If they're pullin 600 ponies on a chassis dyno, then we know they're playin games

Yeah, just throw a blower on the Viper then.....

Or delete a full liter off of the viper's motor...
