I was cleaning my engine,so i put a plastic bag over my intake filter,so i wont get it wet,so i cleaned my engine and waited.then like an hour later i took off ,forgetting the bag around the filter,and my truck kept turning off,so i got home and lifted the hood,and the plastic bag crushed my filter.so my question is can my engine mess up for what happened?and does anyone know where i can get the same airaid filter?the intake tube is fine i just need to replace the crushed filter?do they just sell the filter by itself or do i have to buy the whole thing again?

Oh man I am not sure if that would have caused any internal engine problems. Did you get any warning lights?

Your truck was getting no air for combustion so it kept shutting down.. If your not thowing codes and everything seems with the idle with no check engine light on or flashing(very bad) then if should be ok. but I still would head over to dealership have them check it out.. just make up a story about a rough idle or something as for the filter you should be able to buy a replacement through the place you originally purchaced it or even quicker online check around someone may have one in stock bring it in to a performance shop they may have a compatable filter in stock so you don't have to wait so long..oh and no more beer for you when your cleaning your truck

After you get the new filter, pull the negative off the battery for a few minutes, then stick it back on. You will be okay after that.
The engine was shutting itself down to prevent any damage that might occur from the lack of 02.

Just to let you know that after
you clean your engine with water
it is a good idea and drive
right away for 20 to 30 minutes.
Don't give that setting water
any chance to seep where it's
not a good place to go. Just my
two copper pieces worth of advice.

if you go to K&N website, you can get the part # for the filter you need then go to your parts place and have them look it up, the page with the kits on it also breaks down the system in part numbers,
