My fan sounds like its a jet engine but the air coming out of the vents is not what I have had in previous vehicles . Don`t seem to matter what configuration I select the volume of air just seems low . I looked down inside the cowl and it looks clean . Any one experienced this ? Both of my 2nd Gen Dodge Rams had plenty and the fan was not as annoying as this 03 is with little coming out

If you can hear the fan that loud, then you must have some sort of blockage in the air passage way. If you're still under warranty I'd take her in for a check-up.

Warranty ? If it was 1 day old I know how that would work out for me so I`m figuring on taking care of this myself also which is why I asked a few forums while I ready my tools.I was just wondering if it happen to be a common thing in the 3rd gen so I`d have a heads up, guess not . Thanks anyway .

What you're experiencing is not common with these trucks... I've heard of one other guy that had low air flow - not sure what he did to fix it though.

I found the problem but the cure could be tricky . I guess you call it the recirculation door which switches from outside air to recirculate has come off and is laying flat across the opening to the heater so air from outside and inside are both being pulled through the foam on the door in order to enter the heater box. Plus all air coming in through the outside opeening can also pass through directly to the interior without even going into the the heater/AC unit at all . the actuator itself still works but the plastic on the part of the door that slidea on to the actuator is broke half off . I am making progress but I am getting flash backs of my 2000 being I changed one heater core and a year later the AC evaporator myself in that truck .Any one have a spare door or part # This message has been edited. way to go GaryToo. most people would have never got that far into it theirselves. you sound like a real do-it-yourselfer.aperson can save alot of cash like that. when I read your 1st post from the 14th I immediately knew it had something to do with the damper system in the air ducts. It sounded like your system was stuck in max. a/c (recurculating). Isnt it funny how one symptom can be so many different things? welcome to the HEMIshere GaryToo. Z-ICEMAN

With the internet and factory service manuals available its hard for me not to at least make a halfassed effort to make repairs and mods . Thanks Iceman

I just got my '06 back from the dealer with the exact same problem. 2 days to get the door. You hit the nail on the head with the cause.

They didn`t happen to give you the part # did they ? I didn`t fix mine correctly yet and want to eventually do it right . I have it proped open and got real busy and kinda forgot about it for a while .

no they didn't Gary...sorry.

I have just experienced this A/C problem on my 2004 Hemi QC.

The exact symptoms that Gary speaks of: (My fan sounds like its a jet engine but the air coming out of the vents is not what I have had in previous vehicles. Don`t seem to matter what configuration I select the volume of air just seems low.)

Im still under warranty so I took it in. Here were the techs service notes for anyone thats interested.

Found: Low/none air volume coming out of any vent.

Cause: Binds Sticks Seized
Outside air/reciculation housing/mode

Fix: Replaced the A/C Recirculation Door Assembly

Gary I guess this would be the part number as the printout reads: Housing Air Inlet part#68004226AB

Truck was taken in first thing in the morning and they had it back to me that evening. They fixed the problem and the A/C is like new again, maybe psychological but even feels colder too.

Hope this helps if anyone else runs into this.

It may very well be cooler . Anytime I had to do any work in the heater/ac box it ment removing it from the firewall which ment evacuating the AC system which they probably did to yours also . It may of been off a little before and when they recharged it put it on the money. I had to do it twice on my 2000 which ment steering column and the whole dash just to get to the heater box once for a heater core and the next year for the AC evaporator. Thats pretty much why I moved the broken recirculate door so it gets a little outside air and mostly inside air and left it alone for now as all seasons have been comfortable for almost a year now . I dreed going through all that work again. thanks for the part # and good luck with the new door assembly
