Here's another interesting turbo set-up test results between the .81 and the .68 A/R housings on the rear mount STS turbo.
Water/meth, T76 turbo, 5.8 spring in primary W/G, 8.3 spring on secondary W/G(also used as VWG), both W/G seats in, 348 forged engine, Sharadon stage III trans, 2800 stall Edge TC, 456 gears, Trutrac posi, Full Street Trim.
........10/21/11..............03/05/12
......... (.81) ........ (.68) .... (.68 without the VWG)
60'...... 2.188 ........ 2.207 ....... 2.288
330...... 5.940 ........ 5.826 ....... 6.077
1/8...... 9.003 ........ 8.883 ....... 9.182
1/8mph... 79.48 ........ 81.62 ....... 78.70
1000'.... 11.678 ....... 11.416 ...... 11.880
1/4 ..... 13.926 ....... 13.588 ...... 14.148
1/4mph... 100.47 ....... 103.86 ...... 99.64
Without the VWG on the .68 A/R housing. The engine wouldn't rev up as high off the line and through the gears at only 6.5psi boost. Too much exhaust back pressure between the engine and turbo.
With the VWG, The engine was able to rev up off the line and through the gears but, did boost creep from 7 to 8.5psi boost in 3rd gear just past the 1000'mark. Ooooops.....(needed to swap W/G positions at the turbo manifold or a little bigger W/G).
The air/fuel ratio still was 11.2 at the end of the track. Hummmmm.......
Everything ran great on the tune and the engine. That's when it hit me.
The KRC 5psi mild street tune was good for more boost.
Eventually, there will be some testing done again with the VWG, .68 A/R housing on the front mount turbo only in the cool weather.
