Here in the states we often forget how good we have it with our highway system. Our home in the PI is about 200 miles north of Manila and by bus usually takes 6 hours on a good day. It's monsoon season so it rains most everyday with a typhoon passing every few weeks. My wife having just returned to Manila took 11 hours to get home. She said much of the main highway was flooded and they had to drive around the back roads to continue north. Major cities like Baguio (Summer Capital) are often isolated by the roads being cut. Folks just go with the flow... Can you imagine here in the US wanting to go someplace and being told sorry that area is currently cut off, maybe next week it'll be open.
