Heading back to the land of smiles

This has been a quick trip, didn't get started on the Megasquirt project but it is still my top project, actually waiting on them to get back to me. Will flyout Thursday. The sooner I can get things wrapped up the sooner I'll get back to good ole Virginia. I enjoy the Philppines but it has gotten really difficult with the wife hating it more each year. She is seriously burnt out. So it's time to finish it. I'm excited to spend a full year working on the truck and not have to keep pacing the stuff I want to do. And i need a lot more track time to even pretend to keep up with what everyone is doing.

Made it with no issues. Actually a nice trip, but too long to be enjoyable.
Thanks everyone for the good wishes..

We are having late afternoon rain most everyday. Usually not a big deal, but Saturday night it was a real storm and the power took a voltage spike that fried my internet. Just got it back on. Storytime: This is a little how life works here. It was easy to see the internet DSL modem wasn't working. I had this setup for close to 5 years. So I unplug the modem and carry it to the Telephone company to get a replacement. I take my number and wait my turn. Finally I talk to a nice young lady and tell her I need to replace the modem. She tells me they don't have any of those style anymore and I should update to the new model with built in WiFi. I tell her I already have WiFi and don't need to buy another. (1 year contract). I say look at my account and you will see I've been a good customer meaning I pay my bill. Can you look for a used one that someone has traded in for the upgrade. She likes the idea and gets some help to dig into a few piles of old bits and pieces. Finally they found one and it fails. So I tell her that I really don't know what's wrong with mine and maybe she could just use the power plug on mine and see if it works or not. So she plugs it in using the other power plug and it works. Wow big smiles all around and I carry my old modem with the new Power plug out. But the point I'm not doing so well in making is this is the major customer service center for the National phone system with 4 representatives providing customer service and I just tied up 3-4 people over a minor problem that they should have been prepared to take care of on the spot without going through all this digging and testing. Not counting the young lady was basically clueless other than to sell me a upgrade. (which she also didn't have on hand). But she must have thought my ideas were reasonable and she certainly bent over backwards to accomadate me. This took up about 45 minutes of her time and I had waited for another 20 minutes before getting to the counter. Time doesn't mean anything to anyone. But they also have a senior citizen program which is often abused. 60+ year old folks can just walk to the front of the line by law. My problem is that often these folks are actually younger than I am, and they will flash their cards (I don't have one) and step in front of me. I find this rude and will say loud enough for a few folks to hear, " Yes, you better hurry, it looks like you have run out of time". It usually get a few laughs at the individuals expense. Enough ranting this morning, just wanted to mention I'm back on line from the land of smiles.......
