D150 Project

Soo... hopefully I will finish this project.
Since a little girl is on the way it made more sense to get a family/work truck so I put the 2012 back to stock and traded her in on a 2016 Nissan Frontier.

That being said I now have a shelf full of awesome parts for Hemi's and Rams. I've decided to turn the D150 into a Street/Strip Beast.
I'm Gonna drop the Built 5.7 Hemi in her along with the Built 545 I have. Also scored a Dana 60 today which will help put that power to the ground. I hope to do a full triangular 4 link with coilovers for the rear suspension but have not completely figured that out yet.

This past weekend i started tearing it apart. Pulled rear bumper and disconnected everything to be able to remove the bed so I can start the rear suspension and axle parts.
Keith... I need ya buddy!!

I recommend before settling on using the 545RFE read up on what sensors the trans will require to operate. There are no stand alone systems for it so the trans will need to be incorporated with the pcm. I would suggest a 727 for strip use or a A518 street. Both of these are stand alone transmissions. 1st gen's are very cool in my book. I have a 89.

Doesn't PCS make a full stand alone for the 545?

He has a computer and a harness guys. We can make it work I'm sure. And the dash in the truck is old school so simple guages/sensors will work.

I know Megasquirt was trying to, but I don't believe anyone has succeeded, ther's no driving force with the 545 known weaknesses.

All things can be done with enough effort and resources. But just pointing out the 545 needs sensor inputs, one being a VSS and neither the original nor the Dana rear axles have the sensor. Now, a 46RH tail housing does have a sensor that I think can be substituted for the rear axle sensor. Just takes a lot of research to select the parts that are compatible. OBTW, I really like that dana.... nice find.

Here combinations that you might consider.
1. If you want to use the 545 trans, look at the 4.7 pcm. It has a cable driven TB and would still support the 545 trans.(except the VSS is still a issue)
2. If a stand along trans is used, then the Megasquit engine manager is what I'd look at. This would allow tunability for any power adders you could ever want to use, a cable driven pcm, and the dana would be no issue.

I'm gonna contact AdvanceAdaptors.com on Mon to see if there's any way to retrofit the toner wheel from a 9.25 to a dana 60 or any other way of going about adapting a vss to the output of the 545
