Gripiest 17" street tire :) ?

So, last night I got my butt handed to me by a Chevy reg cab because all i could do was spin...tried featherin but still was spinnin hard when it shifted to 2nd and then floorin it... what I'm runnin now are bf goodrich longtrail ta's (265/65-17's, 10.4" wide), I got these for daily driving (and towing) but the rubber is not soft enough to go hard on it. I figured since they are H rated, I'd need to go to a V or Z rated tire that are AA rated (TA's are AB). So I'm looking at 275/60-17's, 10.8" wide (need the height to not exceed 31" because of the drop) and I'm considering either the Nitto-NT420S or Nexon Roadian HP SUV or Goodyear Eagle RS-A's... any suggestions?

I do have a set of Roadian HP's in 20's (285/50-20's) that grip really well that I swap on from time to time (when I'm feelin the bigger time look). Since I drive alot I prefer runnin the 17's as it's a much smoother ride.

Might try searching for "extreme performance summer tire". They have very soft tread for added grip, but they wear out VERY fast. I had Yokohoma Advan's on my 370Z and the rear tires wore out three times as fast as the fronts, but they did provide excellent grip in a high HP, low torque application.

Not sure how they would perform in a torque monster.

A drag radial lol. Sorry Fred but my lil 5.7 with a lil 260 cam tears up my 420s with ease, can't imagine they'd do any better with your truck.

I think the Nitto 555's would be better than the 420's. But are a DR.

You need some fat tires like Rays Daytona.

There are a lot of 15" tires that are 29-30" tall and as wide as you like. You would have to do the brake mod.

Have a look at the Toyo Proxes ST2. My street tires are the 285/60R17. It performs pretty well and doesn't exceed the 31" height.
