Maybe I should replace my painted one for a chrome one haha. I thought I would of noticed the paint starting to flake. The plastic under the paint was pretty smooth so I'm sure it wont be long till the rest of it starts to go. Good thing I have a friend that owes me a favor haha

Didn't some aftermarket company several years ago make somekind of plastic/poly/urethane??? type of cover to fit over a chrome bumper . Seems I vaguely remember that aftermarket option...

Haha why not just one or the other. I myself prefer the painted, not a huge fan of chrome. Hence why I've started taking it all off the truck

Maybe when the pendulum heads back in the opposite direction... some of us really old farts with chrome might come back in style .

Feeling your pain.
Get it repainted and stay away from Power Washers.
