Roll pan and lighting

I had ordered a roll pan and had asked for the licence plate light package with it, as it is required by law up here, and when it arrived I found that the light package consisted of a single, rectangular shaped in chrome, licence plate light with one wire for power and the idea being that it is supposed to ground to the area it mounts to, except its a urethane roll pan that they sold me.
I was working as a tech for Ford at the time and came up with the idea of using the older style Ford rear licence plate light. I used a set of their pigtails and housings as the outer cover can be removed and painted. So I get to keep using my factory licence lamp wiring, keep everything looking clean and have it painted to match.
It worked out looking fantastic and the guy that painted it even took the time to sand off the tiny Ford oval that was molded into the housing...

Just be careful where you park. Right after I installed mine it got dented up. I parked in a lot where the were rows of two cars parking nose to nose. Well, I thought I would pull all the way in to where the opposing car would be parked so that I could just pull out instead of backing out. What happened was that a car that pulled in behind me pushed in my roll pan with it's front bumper. Now I am careful to park where no one is parking behind me. I cringe every time I have to parallel park.

Well yea, you take that chance when you ditch the bumper lol.. That's one big reason I haven't put one on my truck, my first truck had one(first mod I did lol) an sure enough someone backed into the corner of my truck. An lets just say having the bumper would of saved quite a bit of damage.
