PlastiDip How-to

A few of us have...have had mine for a while, no peeling or lifting, going to peel off and redo (getting new tires on, have a feeling some will lift around the edges). Cleans easily with water, I prefer tire shine.

No scuffing required. I washed them very good (try to get in every crease), dried them off, took a rag with rubbing alcohol over everything, and then a paper towl to make sure it dried thoroughly.

It's only $6 a can here. Still, at $23...beets paying for powder coat. My rims have fooled everyone that's seen them, nobody suspects plastidip.

found a guy in Quebec that will do 80 shipped tax in for 4 cans, enough to do my wheels and any other remaining chrome i have left and still have some for touch ups. im taking the plunge on this one i think. would be 104 to buy in a store and id have to wait 3-4 weeks for it to come in.plus its easily reversible...what better could you want?

I have the Polished Aluminum rims, not the plastic cladding ones and the clear coat is peeling and bubbling around all the center caps which is pretty darn annoying. Anyone else have this issue and fixed it?
The plasti-coat looks cool. Wonder if you could do it in gloss black.

Only plastidip I've seen is in matte black...but from what I've read they were working on a Gloss finish for retail. Unless you want 5 gallons of the stuff, that's brush on.

I find that if you use tire cleaner on the matte finish, it gives it a bit of a sheen...but this is a pretty temporary deal. Especially in a construction zone or stone lot, this stuff loves to attract dirt and dust.
