chrome coating wrinkles

I have not really accepted the chrome cladding that all the manufactures are using now. I have recently noticed two vehicles that put chills up my back.

One was a Nitro that was sharp, got to checking it out. One of the chrome clad wheels was blistering. the chrome had serious wrinkles, air pockets.

The other was a Ford super duty's grille, the chrome looked like it had release from plactic grille, identical to the wheel on the Nitro. Both vehicle looked clean not abused.

Is this a manufacturers problem or reaction from after market chemicals? Anyone eles seen this?
Now I'm worried my wheels may do this once vehicle is out of warranty.
