Hello All,

My son wants to replace the standard radio on his 2007 RAM 1500 hemi.
Has anyone done this? Or does anyone have any recommendations for a unit.
I suspect that with the center consold trim being shaped arount the current Radio knobs that i mat requier a new trim.

any advice would be very much appreciated

If he goes with a 1.0 DIN unit with a flip up screen then a standard kit from any one of a number of makers will supply the correct filler plate to adapt the opening. but if you go with a fixed screen Double Din sized unit you will either need to custom cut the center Bezel or buy one from the several internet sources that cut them as part of their bussiness' ( Weedahoe is a member here and does them, see his postings in the For Sale section. I've bought other stuff from him and he is a OK)

if he just wants an upgraded stereo its easy, buy the dash kit you want, pocket or no pocket, but the kicker is you need a 100$ hanress for it to work right.there are ways around this but it has drawbacks.anything by alpine is great. i had the no pocket style in mine, i did prefer the pockets for use and looks actually. pic below

I had a similar set-up for a while.

Then I bought a double-din and just bought a factory navigation bezel and used the trim that came with the head-unit.
