Advice for paint

Ok guys,

As some of you had read couple months back I was in the process of painting my doors.....

Well now im in the process of removing the wood grain as seen in the pic below ( my doors do not look like that anymore) I really should get an updated pic, anyway I am going to be painting it silver. It is VERY smooth, and shiny. Should I do the normal process of sanding, priming, and painting...or do any of you advise any other option.

Thanks

Advice for paint

whenver I paint anything plastic I like to use a non sanding primer and some paint adhesive. When you sand just use like some steel wool to remove any wax or residue that seems to work best for me. Hope this helps ...good luck...Jim

hmm... would using steel wool before I sand help get that shiny stuff off?

The wood grain is shiner and smoother than all the pieces I have painted back in the day so I am having my doubts as to having the paint really stick to it even with sanding

That's where the paint adhesive comes in. I think it's made by dupont it has a bulldog on the label and it is specifically formulated to promote adhesion of paint on plastic surfaces. I'll look for it today and see if I can get more info for you.
