4x4 knob on 2006

i would like to move the 4x4 knob to the other side (where the square storeage hole is) remove that and mount 4x4 knob there and cut an opening for the back up monitor and put it where the 4x4 knob is from the factory.does anyone know if this can be done what would be involved with moving the 4x4knob thanks mike

You may have to make the wires longer to reach that far and you might have to custom build a harness to hold the 4x4 knob but it shouldnt be too hard because its just a simple relocation your not adding or taking any parts out.

You will have to cut the plug from the switch and splice in longer wires,.. The plug in the back doesn't have spade terminals but little ones.

Also the switch assembly sits on centering dowels and is bolted with 3 screws in the back. You would have to bolt it in front the front with some cutting,.. or glue some sort of mounting in from the rear. I can't remember how the square storage is held in there,.. but it could be a simple swap over.

It can be done,. I thought about it but am too lazy.

yes they can be swied the only thing is when you move the knob you have to enlarge the middle hole to slip over the plastic *** screw holes are the same ,also when i cut the wires should i disconnect the battery or can i leave it hooked up .the hole it cut used jig saw now i put 2 bolts on the back of bezel used gorilla glue to mount them gonna wait till it dries then take some metel (like when you buy a car radio) and run it to the 2 bolts then i need to put some kind of trim around the front of the bezel to finish it off NOW IM LOOKING FOR IDEAS ON THAT right now i have the woodgrain around the radio and the silver around the rest ANY IDEAS ANYONE!

I would dis-connect the battery just to be safe since your dealing with power wires.

Take a pic of the part you need the trim on.

You know looking at the Bezel that Dline has for sale the cut out cubby hole on the right and the cut out for the 4x4 knob look to be the exact same size. It might just be a matter of lengthening some wires and popping or screwing the 4x4 knob into place.

This might be easier than you think.
