Trying to buy a new RAM ???? please

So I was pretty impressed with the new ecodiesel and have been trying to get one, however, they are in somewhat short supply, and RAM not trying to unload them yet, BUT, you can get the same dang truck with a HEMI for a lot less and a lot more incentive.

My prob is, I love the truck, but I almost dont like how much power the hemi has lol, I like to drive pretty mellow and the ecodiesel was pretty easy to stay out of the power. However, I need to tow and sometimes as much as 10-11K so I need the eco at least and the hemi would be fine for that.

So far having looked at you know, a 100 trucks (online) and 4-5 on the lot, the only one I really like, a 14 crew cab big horn hemi had a horrible ticking, like sticking lifters/tappets when I first started the thing. Sales guy of course says its normal and the truck has been sitting. It did quiet down after we drove it, but I could still hear it at idle.

I cant believe this is normal? Should I just walk and find another truck????

Ask to test drive another '14 to compare. No sense investing that much money if you're not comfortable with how it's running.

It is called the Hemi tick, some may be louder than others. But check out the Laramie or Laramie Limited. You won't believe the ride and handling and:

Yeah I would love to buy a Laramie, but its a second car really for work and some running around. I cant justify the cost. Hell I am complaining about an 8k discount.

This is usually a good end of model year last few days of the month to get all the incentives etc... not to say they wont still be avail in a month but I guess I will just go drive a couple other ones. Its really hard to find the 9 speaker/sub package though!!!!!! and this one has it.

I mean, how many of you would just say F it, I am leasing it, it will be under warranty likely the entire time it is in my driveway???

As for myself, I wouldn't buy one with a loud tick. It would always bug me. But that's just me. There's a lot of them out there. Find another one.

My 300C ticks louder than my Ram, but they both do it. I personally could not justify the extra cost of the diesel. It adds something like $3K, plus it seems to come only on the high-end trim packages. All this seems to send it north of $50K (!). I also suspect that the pennies saved on fuel/mile won't offset the other costs. To finish that, NEVER buy the first year!

I went and drove another one. Still want the diesel, but I have to admit the Hemi is cool as hell, would be fun to throw an exhaust on it, but man it drives REALLY well, I decided I am getting the NAV too, works great, and I did not know you can add it to ANY truck that has the upgraded Uconnect.

Oh, and because I am blind, or maybe because I am addicted to marijuana cigarettes, I only figured out today that quad cab = longer bed, crew cab = shorter bed........

My 07 was a quad
My 12 is a crew, love it. You will love the room in the crew. If not mistaken from bumper to bumper both quad and crew same overall length.
