So I been thinking of trading my 2010 Ram because warranty is almost over due to mileage. Not being happy with the trade difference on a new Ram I've been looking at competitors. Finally found a Toyota dealer with several Tundras in stock including a Maxcab Platnium. First impression is positive but I need a longer box and shorter cab. Go inside to the showroom, they have the double cab there. Told the salesman I am new to Toyota trucks but am thinking of dealing. Want to trade 2010 Ram Laramie QC. First mistake was he doesn't know anything about Ram trucks. He told me I would be very happy once I had cooled seats. I said "I already have them". He said I would absolutely love the power and that his personel Hemi Magnum (yes he owns one) wouldn't likely keep up to a Tundra". I laughed and told him that I have a Hemi 300 so I'm familiar with them. On the test drive I says "so you have more power than me? 400 plus?? cause I only have 390". He looks it up in the brochure and says, "oh, guess we have 381hp". I ask about the heated steering wheel. He says, "Toyota doesn't have that but he's heard of it on some expensive cars like a Lexus, maybe". I say, My Ram has it". I then ask about easy egress seat, none available. My Ram has it. Trailer mirrors? Yes, available but not from Toyota. "Oh my Ram has the factory trailer mirrors". Built in DVD with hard drive? None. AC outlet? None. He then started talking fuel mileage. The Hemi is rated 2 mpg better. After getting back to the dealership he prices me the fancy but lesser Tundra truck at a mere 8 grand more than my Laramie price (without trade). After discussing "perceived" better resale and reliability of the Tundra he asks to see my truck and sit in it.
Long story short he was very impressed and said," I never knew Dodge had a truck that would hold a candle to the Toyota, let alone offer more. There must not be many of these around".
Guess I'll just keep driving the old goat!

Seriously? only if my local Ram dealer gives me the price I want. I won't be trading to any competitors. The Ram is more truck for the money than Ford Chev GMC or Toyota.

Well I wouldn't say rule out competitors outright, if you can get one of them to get you a written offer its something you can shove down the dodge dealerships throat. While I know this will stir the pot the new Ford ecoboosts are no slouch. My only concern with them would be overall price and maintenance costs. Turbo charged anything isn't cheap these days.
