T-stat and TC plug?

What is the factory thermostat supposed to be in an 09? My truck seems to run really cool. Looks like it is at about the 180 Mark. Didn't know if maybe an aftermarket thermostat was put in it. Looks almost like the housing has been off before. Also wondering if it is supposed to be 195 if that made attribute to some of the slightly off idle I have.

Also is there a plug in the torque converter So you can do a full-service your self for the transmission fluid? I am not worried about dropping the pan and doing filters but would like to get all the fluid out and replace it with Amsoil-. Just wondering if I could do it myself.

And has anyone put a better valve body in the transmission if they are doing a service themself? If so what are some good brands?

I don't know the 09, but my 03 can read engine temperature using a DSP. I believe it has been a long time since drain plugs have been used. And there are stage ll and stage lll vb's available for the 545rfe. Also there are shift improvement DIY kit. Plus a line pressure module. Do your research....

180 degree thermostat is probably aftermarket. The factory on my '04 was 203 degree dual stage(who thinks up these numbers, unless it was done for emissions). I swapped in a Stant 180 dual stage, and have never had a problem.

Drain plugs in your torque convertor would probably be serious balance issue, so I would think not.

Valve bodies and shift kits are readily available, just search the blogs here and check what people have used and the results.

Good luck with your modding, and long live the HEMI!

Haha. Ur killin me smalls. Im not forcing anyone to answer a quick question. If they dont want to or like to then.....don't. Sometimes gettin a quick synopsis of opinions or experience shaves hours off digging through website after website of options. Guess some people just like to do it the other way

Ya. This thing is def no where near 203. I was thinkin a cooler tstat messed w things if u werent running differwnt plugs and programming etc due to ignition timing etc. i had a 180 in my last truck too but I had a SC on it. Thats in the works tho so I guess it will stay.

The stock tstat is 203*. If yours reads 180*, then you do have an aftermarket thermostat in the truck.

I am running a Valve Body from SuperStreet Performance, but last time we talked, they were not wanting to use their valve body in stock trucks. You would have to contact them to confirm that though. You can also go though Sharadon or L&M Customs for a valvebody as well.

The reason I'm not specific is that I know 03-05 pretty well but with anything newer I often give the wrong information and I don't want to mislead you. Fortunately here at HTC if the information is wrong there are folks who will call it into question. You can't go wrong at HTC.
